I loved this story!

This was an amazing story full of romance and a chance encounter.
Evangeline hasn’t seen her family for Christmas for 10 years and because of problems in her New York office decides to go home to Canada. On the way, a snowstorm hits and she stays at a hotel until the storm is over.
One reason she didn’t want to go home and she was afraid she would run into her ex-boyfriend.
She runs into much more.
I highly recommend this book!

This is the story of Jaq who went off to war, and Gill who could not follow after – Tumbling After: A Mother Goose Legend by Andi Lawrencovna

Jack and Jill Went up a Hill…

Or so the rhyme goes.

But that’s not the story here.

This is the story of Jaq who went off to war, and Gill who could not follow after. Who, despite the years apart, the distance between them, the hills that rose and fell and needed to be crossed before they found each other again…never forgot the other, and could never let the other go.

But stories aren’t all about reunions. And sometimes those who return are not the same as when they left.

When your world is turned on its head, how do you learn to accept yourself for who you’ve become? How can you accept the love of another, when you’ve forgotten how to love yourself?

In this retelling of a childhood rhyme, it’s not about who follows who up any hill…it’s about who comes tumbling after, and rises together in the end…

Love without prejudice

Although this book is a standalone, it is more enjoyable if you read the first 3 books in the New Beginnings series. The hero, Ken, was introduced in the first New Beginnings book, while the heroine, Cassandra, is a new character. Ken is blind and the author does a good job of both showing the challenges a blind person may face, without invoking any feelings of pity. Both characters are likable and their relationship unfolds naturally.

Meeting friend and foe along the way, they question the wisdom of leaving the safety of the glen as they encounter new discoveries and dangers on their march to the north. In search of a way out of Eriden and back to their home in the Rim of Mortals, peril looms in the shadows, and they fear with each battle they face that it will be their last.

In 1940, still in high school, Henry P. Lawrence joined the Navy Reserves. Little did he know that a year later, in May of 1941, he’d be called to service and deployed to Hawaii. No one believed the Japanese would be aggressive enough to attack a U.S. territory.
Their plan…to cripple the United States military.
The attack on Pearl came hard and fast. I Was Just a Radioman is a collection of the memoirs of ARM Henry P. Lawrence, a WW II Pearl Harbor survivor, Black Cat, and decorated war veteran.

An odd tale of disconnection follows a quiet little man who wanders about the day, in the shadows of an overbearing wife. Willing to do anything to find the love they once shared, he trails her patiently, almost invisibly, to an unexpected ending.
The author cleverly uses rhythm and rhyme, creating a long-form, poetic short story.

Great short story, you have to read.

This is a great short tale with a wonderful feel to it. Follow Milo, a mild-mannered man as he walks through life. Thinking of his wife and their relationship. he repeats “I’ve done nothing, no, nary nothing” readers are going to be surprised as they learn just what is the meaning behind the words and the true story of the life of the Elek’s, husband and wife. Michael Bussa has a way with a short story that is unique and a pleasure to find.

“This story is told with great detail, making the reader apart of the story.” The Void by Marta Moran Bishop

The Void, the first true paranormal short story written by Marta Moran Bishop, is reminiscent of Alfred Hitchcock or the Twilight Zone of later days.
It will take you deep into the mind and heart of someone either living through a serious mental illness or something mysterious and dangerous resides in the void.
Many years before, Altori and her sister Helen moved into the village. Last year during the night of no moon Helen went out into the void and nearly died. A terrible disease spread through her body. She ran away to escape the possibility of death at the hands of the frightened villagers.
Will Altori survive the void and find her sister? Did Helen ever exist or is Altori suffering from a mental illness?

This is a fantastic read.

I must admit, I don’t read that much due to my work life and all the writing that I do, but when I do it’s great to read a short story that captures your imagination.
This story is told with great detail, making the reader apart of the story. Now that’s what I call a fantastic author. Any author who can get into the mind of a reader, making you turn the pages, I class that as pure talent. I do look forward reading more of Marta’s work. I would like to wish Marta the very best, but I know deep down we will be seeing a lot more of this author  ❤

“Will they be able to overcome the misunderstandings and be happy together?” – Loving Marie: A Fairfield Corners Prequel by L.A. Remenicky

Falling in love with his partner’s little sister was never part of the plan.
There was an order to James Marsden’s future: get a job as an Indianapolis cop, work his way up to detective, and then find a nice girl and start a family. He never planned on walking into a diner his first day as a rookie copy and for her to blow his entire timeline to smithereens.
When Marie Griffen’s older brother Steve introduced her to his new trainee, she was instantly drawn to his shy demeanor and blushing face. Only, she couldn’t act on her feelings even if she wanted to. Steve wanted her to date someone with a normal job – that wasn’t his partner. Marie just wanted to live her own life without her older brother watching over her.
Marie and James must decide if this off-limits romance is worth the risk or if the consequences are too much for either of them to bear.

Will they be able to overcome the misunderstandings and be happy together? Or are the consequences too much for …

This is an extremely quick read.
James is a rookie cop working with Steve, Marie’s brother.
When they go to dinner where Marie works, James instantly becomes interested in her but is warned by Steve to stay away from her.
Marie also feels an attraction for James, but after some misunderstandings, she thinks that the feeling is not reciprocal.
James starts to avoid her and his behavior sort of gets out of control to try to forget her.
Will they be able to overcome the misunderstandings and be happy together? Or are the consequences too much for them to bear?
This is a very interesting story, but the events are very fast. I think it could have been more explored.
I recommend the reading.

The G.O.D. series must be read in order

November 12, 2052: Earth has lost two-thirds of its population to the Great War. Many more lives have been lost to earthquakes, the Clover Virus, and the Death Plague. Years later, survivors are clumped into factions. Two of those factions—the Brotherhood and the Guild Faction—have battled over medical supplies and food for years. The fight is coming to a head as manpower dwindles, and the struggle becomes one to gain numbers, even if said numbers are children…
Griffin Storm, an albino man kidnapped and dragged into the Brotherhood, has transformed into a G.O.D., a Genetically enhanced Omni-dimensional being. Two weeks in the brig, and Griffin’s released after it’s determined that he’s learned to control most of his god-like abilities. His abilities have grown almost as much as his love for Tassta Vinetti and his unfortunate bloodlust. His bond with Tassta’s twin brother, Penn, has grown as well and is cemented in secrets.
Not disappointed!
Griffin, having earned the trust of Fortress authorities, is set to be released from The Brig, much to the delight of Tassta, his sweetheart. Although Griffin still has a lot to learn about balancing his newfound abilities against his inherent humanity, overall he does well and has enough control over his abilities to prevent caving into his inner desires. As his and Tassta’s romance heats up, Griffin gets the horrifying news soon after his release, Griffin’s told that Guild agents and the notorious Trips (super-agents of the Guild) are in the Underground. He must now test his abilities to save the abandoned children that live there. Will Griffin rescue the children of the Underground from a tragic end? Will Tassta and Griffin’s love survive such turmoil? Can a G.O.D. forgive himself when death and destruction follow his every move? Read Blood Phase, the gripping second book in the G.O.D.s Series!

Awesome

An awesome follow up to Blood Master: Book 1 of The G.O.D.s Series

Blood Phase follows on seamlessly from book one, and we rejoin Griffin, Tassta, Lerin and all, in the continuing story.

Once again the characters are well-fleshed out and have their own personalities, and are like friends I’ve known for years. I feel their love, fear, confusion, frustration, and sorrow, and my heart goes out to them.

The descriptive writing draws you in and keeps you there through all the twists, turns, and action, and doesn’t let go until you turn the last page.

I am eager to read the next book and discover what happens next
