Three short stories of the paranormal and the unknown, to delight, chill, and make you wonder.
This book contains The Hollowers, The Other Side, and The Night of the Fairies, published under single stories and now together.

The Hollowers is a strange tale of Jerry’s discovery of an old box. Jerry is a man who has chosen to do as little as possible to get by. He lives in a pretend world where the main character is himself until he finds the mysterious box.

The Other Side is the story of Ed and Isle. Ed is a successful businessman until one day under the most unusual circumstances he discovers a new world. A world that holds the woman of his dreams, but can he live there or will his learned behavior keep them apart?

The Night of the Fairies takes us into the realm of a young girl, who was adopted into the tribe, but never fit in. She sees fairies, which no one else can see and has a horror of becoming the wife of one of the tribe, she is changing you see, but into what?

3 shorts you’ll be glad to read.

This book contains three very interesting short stories, any of which would make a great novel. The author writes a story easy to follow. Each touches on the paranormal in a slightly different way. I enjoyed the book and think it will appeal to many readers. This is the first collection I have read by this author, and because I found the stories compelling, I will be looking for more.

Rheanon Donatesu taught at a prestigious girls school in London. She prided her self on being able to take a young woman under her wing to teach her about science and mostly how to be a leader of women. Clearly an independent woman. Rheanon had always been wild and impetuous. She could turn stone into dust and best anyone at whist, even play cards with the finest gentleman in England and win. What she couldn’t do is wait any longer for the man she loved to come back to her. She tried her hardest to find out where he was, writing letters and talking to his dear mother who was her aunt by marriage.

Rheanon tried even hard to keep her special abilities a secret. There were only a few who knew about her sorcery. Those were the Five Stars.

Her arch nemesis went missing one night during one of the card games. No one could find out who took Miss Lisbeth Ashley. That is until a Bow Street Runner comes knocking on Rheanon’s door asking too many questions. Then another pulls her right off of the street for questioning. This one vowed he would have her in his bed. He would have a hard time convincing her.

Why on earth would they suspect Rheanon? Only one person knows, and that person is closer to Rheanon than anybody suspected.

Another great book by Samantha Jacobey

I love the way Samantha Jacobey brings her characters to life. In “The Binding” Meredith finds herself with a lot of questions: a book, her father, her mother, and Rider. Will she be able to sort everything out?

The Binding kept me going! I couldn’t put it down!

I highly recommend this book!

I was enthralled by the ongoings in this book. Troianne is definitely a masterpiece. Crystal Lynn Miles Gauthier will pull you into this book to the point that you can not put it down. All the time reading I’m thinking Troianne would make a magnificent mini-series. Cannot wait to read Diana’s Magic.

“The Void” by Marta Moran Bishop – #Literature&Fiction, #GenreFiction, #Horror, #Occult

Marta the void 5-7-18.jpg

The Void, the first true paranormal short story written by Marta Moran Bishop, is reminiscent of Alfred Hitchcock or the Twilight Zone of later days.

It will take you deep into the mind and heart of someone either living through a serious mental illness or something mysterious and dangerous resides in the void.

Many years before, Altori and her sister Helen moved into the village. Last year during the night of no moon Helen went out into the void and nearly died. A terrible disease spread through her body. She ran away to escape the possibility of death at the hands of the frightened villagers.

Will Altori survive the void and find her sister? Did Helen ever exist or is Altori suffering from a mental illness?

A very intriguing paranormal story.
By Leyla Atke
The Void by Marta Moran Bishop is a mystical, paranormal story about two unfortunate girls, sisters Altori and Helen. Helen disappears during the night of no moon in the void and Altori thinks about her sister all the time, trying to understand what had happened to her. She is sure that Helen is alive but where is she? Suffering from her hard work and unfortunate life, Altori falls into a trance several times and meets her sister Helen who is in awful physical condition but still alive. Sisters miss their parents and try to find out where their home is. In the non-moon void night, sisters make a journey carrying a cryptic box, their legacy. Using the items that were in the box, Altori makes a rite of purification at the end of which a mystical power carries both sisters home.

I love this paranormal story and the feeling of uncertainty it leaves. And yes, it is reminiscent of Alfred Hitchcock or the Twilight Zone. It is still not clear whether the events described in the book occurred in the material or immaterial world. Was what is happening a sick imagination of Altori, whose life in the material world was so terrible? It still remains a mystery that only makes the book even more intriguing.

J. Rogers Barrow
The Keeper of the MemoriesBishop gives us the story of the tribe and its Memory Keeper. The Old Mother must soon pass from the world, and she chooses Mondoani to take her place. She must care for her people in their harsh land. The tribe and its land is painted with care, and their story is crafted with care. The people live lives that to us are exotic, and their traditions and way of life are alien. The reader sees a life that entices him into a new world and time. Well done!
