Edge of your seat action mixed with electric love
By Valerie Roberson
Again Carol Ann Kauffman sucked me in, and I couldn’t put the book down. Each one of the Time After Time Series just gets better and better. This one she left me hanging wondering if
Greg was able to pull it off?
Becca and Mark saw each other every day through a train window. They were fantasy lovers to each other, but they never have met before. There was an electric connection they felt when they saw each other.
One day they spoke, and it was sheer magic. They knew they were meant to be together. Becca is a very rich businesswoman, and Mark is a low life manger. But that didn’t matter. They loved each other for who they were inside.
Things got crazy, and Mark was kidnapped and almost killed. She rescued him. Becca was blackmailed into marrying some rich dude, and Mark rescued her from him. There is a whole lot that happened in between, but I don’t want to give anything away. You will just have to read the book.
This book had a lot of excitement and holding the edge of your seat in it. The storyline was fantastic! The writing was amazing! I can’t wait for the next book!

Short, but worth the read
The worst part of this book? It is too short. Just as we have been getting things developed in the characters, the locations, the relationships, the author cuts off the story. Much like a Saturday Matinee… See you next week!! Uggg…
The story is basic Zombie Outbreak with introductions to the main characters, the history of the area and what is happening now. Add a few standard plot devices and viola, instant story. Now, this isn’t to say it’s like all the others, there is enough to make it fresh and worth the time to read. I am sure to pick up any and all books in the series as they become published.

Exciting! Total Page-Turner

This was the first time I read one of Mr. Carson Reno, a private detective’s, adventures and I couldn’t put it down. I am more of a romance/fantasy reader myself, but the story is so well-developed that it caught my attention right from the beginning (the prologue) when the murder of a crime/mystery author takes place as soon as she types the last words to her newest manuscript and in the cabin of her boat. I must say that I didn’t find it clichè, but pretty poetic. Soon after, Mr. Reno takes the scene and, without having any recollection of his last hours or events and plus being unfortunate enough to have been in the wrong place at the wrong time, he receives the honor of becoming the prime suspect in Darling’s murder (the boat’s Capitan murder being added to his charges just as well).

“It’s not whiskey it’s Scotch, and you know how I hate that stuff. I wasn’t drinking… somebody hit me over the head and…and I guess used my gun to shoot…shoot whoever. I suppose somewhere in the process they poured a bottle of Scotch over me and put my handcuffs on the dead woman. I have no idea – I don’t know any more than what I’ve already told you.”

As you can see, that doesn’t sound promising to help the detective.

Author Darnell pulled me right in from the prologue and made me sit in the lobby of The Peabody Hotel.
This was my first Carson Reno detective novel, and I’m now a fan. A detective story that weaves its way through magnificently described settings; Memphis, Tennessee, in the 1960’s, and characters that come to life, in front of you. Darnell’s ability to described and develop his cast of players is marvelous. I got to know his main character, Carson Reno, as he, in the first person, tells the story, and lets me know his feelings and thoughts, in his own irreverent way. From the prologue, I felt as if, Author Darnell, had pulled me in by my shirt collar, into The Peabody Hotel’s lobby, where Carson has his detective office, next to the Down Under Bar. I didn’t have to guess what the characters looked like, no, I could see all of them, their quirks and mannerisms. The murder plot (or murders), is very intriguing, twist and turns, clues everywhere, multiple suspects— that make the amateur detective in all of us, ‘sleuth’ our way through the book. If you enjoy a detective –whodunit novel, you’ll enjoy this one. “Another Jack Daniels and Coke please, Andy,” said Reno.

A zombie novel YA readers can sink their teeth into!!!

Author, Ann Logsdon, has truly created a good read in the short novel, Viral Dawn. Although nothing new has been introduced into the zombie mythos, Ms. Logsdon has succeeded in merging just about every traditional zombie aspect that I have encountered, either through literature or film. However, this fact does not take away from the reading experience but instead enhances it. The main character, Casey, is a strong female lead, supported by a well-developed cast of characters. Casey finds herself thrust into a world of flesh-eating zombies that tend to only come out at night. However, there are a few subtle hints in the story that there is simply more to them than that. Perhaps they are evolving? If you wish to know more, I suggest you read the book.

The work is well written and flows at a nice pace, with a few slow parts that seem to coincide with what Casey is experiencing and feeling. I would have liked a little more action in the story, but it is enough to get you through, connected with bouts of drama and intelligent dialogue. For a zombie novel, the blood and gore are kept to a tasteful level, just right.

The end of the story leaves the reader with a heavy cliffhanger, keeping you wanting more. I would most definitely be interested in experiencing more of the world in which Viral Dawn takes place and would recommend this book to the average young adult reader and older audiences.

Another Suspense-filled Carson Reno Story!
By Amy’s Bookshelf Reviews
Who doesn’t love a good PI book? Darnell did not disappoint in this story, as he kept the Carson Reno true to himself. Dead Ends is filled with suspense and thrilling action. The characters have a great connection and chemistry, and Reno doesn’t always believe what he is told. That’s the PI in him. This one is a real page-turner, so much that you end up re-reading pages because you are so anxious to get to the next page, but fear you have missed something important. As part of the series of Reno mysteries, it’s not required to read the others, but this book makes you want to go back and read about Reno’s other cases. I have read “Murder and More” and will probably go back and read others when I have the time. I like the point of view from Reno, reminds me of old detective movies, the ones in black and white, with the narration at every turn. Love this book!I received this book free in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. ~Amy’s Bookshelf Reviews
