Samantha Jacobey’s, The Wicked Awakened, is a perfect Halloween read.
Sarah and her childhood best friend, Karen, are off to college. Unlike Karen, Sarah is a dedicated student. Karen has other interests.
I loved the depiction of the two childhood friends and their relationship. I thought the author did an excellent job of portraying the complex ties that bonds friends and how it can mask competing impulses.
In high school, both girls shared an interest in witchcraft. Karen’s ties went deeper than Sarah knew.
Karen is involved with a dangerous coven, who are interested in recruiting Sarah.
Things go bump in the night, creative and original twists. Stories involving the occult. Some of the twists and turns, I didn’t see coming.

What a Long, Strange Ride It’s Been

The final book of a seven-book series, and what a long, strange ride it has been. I really had no idea what I was getting into when I picked up the first book in the series in January, but this has been a very intense, interesting, twisting and turning, jaw-dropping journey from book one through the last page of book seven.
The title is Avenged, it is the end of the series – you simply know that s&%t is going to get real for this final installment, and it certainly does. Tori and her ragtag group are going to settle things once and for all, and it is quite an all-out melee.
The FBI – we finally get to see exactly who is playing on what team, and under whose direction. This has been the most compelling underlying storyline for me probably from book one. Seeing how this one falls into line is what I have been waiting for.
Tori’s Men – who is going to make it out alive becomes the most important question, at the crux of things more than who means the most to her. Everyone knows the risks..will it be worth it in the end?
The **bleeping** Organization – finally have all of the missing pieces come together on this mysterious bunch? Can Tori possibly take on something this big?
Tori’s big surprise – I had figured it out in the last book, but how long is it going to take her to see, and what will it mean for this story? How much will this interfere with what she needs to get done?
As always, well crafted, action-packed, well written and edited, it is all perhaps most important in this final book that it all comes together, flows, and brings closure. Ms. Jacobey gets excellent marks on all of the above.

The Black and White pictures mixed in with the story is classic! The Jack Daniels, the butcher knife, and the severed finger. Darnell’s style of writing, along with the sparse photos, paints a vivid picture in my mind and keeps me turning the pages. I’ve read one Carson Reno book before this and have to admit I am hooked. I don’t think Gerald Darnell can top this Reno Carson story. If you are going to read a Reno Carson, this is the one!

Indelible by Samantha Jacobey is the fifth book in The New Life Series. This book picks up where Exposed left off. Tori has been trying to settle into her new life. She now has Michael by her side, and some of the questions from her past have been answered. This now brings a new set of problems for Tori. She now has a brother that is a rock star, and he has seen her play the guitar and wants her to join the band. But Tori’s fears keep her from seeing how good she really is. Michael just wants things to go back to the way they were. She wants to settle down and have a normal life since she was robbed of one as a child. But just when you think things are going good, she is thrown into yet another set of problems. Can Tori and Michael’s relationship really last when she gets the unexpected news that someone from her past is in need of her help? I have loved this whole series so far and can’t wait to see what Samantha has in store for the next book.

For those who love rock and roll and reading, this is the perfect book for you. The author has an in depth knowledge of bands, tours and the behind the scenes action of a major tour. As with all artists, tempers run high and emotions get out of hand. Cherime Mcfarlane brings out the essence of the Scot in Hamish beautifully and his conflict over his love for Lori and his doubts about her, make that love story very interesting. A good mystery and an enjoyable read!
