love, death, danger, madcap comedy–and Christmas too

This story has everything: love, death, danger, madcap comedy–and Christmas. In this non-stop and ultimately very satisfying sequel to “Madison’s Christmas,” Maddie Rand and her beloved Kyle run up against a bad man who’s supposed to be dead, and things go downhill from there… until they go uphill 🙂 The comedy of errors as Kyle and Maddie chase each other from hospital to hospital is a welcome spot of light relief, and hysterically funny.

A true Christmas gift

Christmas Candy by Samantha Jacobey is a sweet story about second chances and starting over. And I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed this story. This story is about single mom Candice Parker who has a son Dakota, who has special needs and she lives with her mother who helps her out but is also a financial burden for Candice. They are really having a rough time making ends meet. Candice works at a gas station one day meets Gary Ford who happens to be a firefighter, and he just happens to come in every day to the station. Gary has been begging Candice to give with a chance even if it just being friends first. But Candice doesn’t have time for relationships or anything. But things go from bad to worse for Candice and her family fast, and he comes to her rescue you got it Gary does. Will Candice learn to trust and give him a chance, and will she learn not to be so distrustful towards people. Samantha Jacobey has given us a story with many ups and downs along with the emotions that go with them. Candice’s life is who rough for someone her age, and well I was reading this story I was wondering how much more this poor woman would be able to come. This story was well written, and the story flowed quite well. I could tell you more about this story, but that would spoil it for you. I highly recommend that you read this story you won’t be disappointed.

HOLIDAY MIX-UP
By Barbara MojicaTop Contributor: Children’s Books
Well-written fast paced short story about a high-powered well-intentioned female boss and her struggles to cope with the merriment of the Christmas season while facing the recent loss of her father and her best friend. Madison reluctantly promises her sister Susan that she will join the family for Christmas. In the meantime, Kyle, a brand new employee, falls in love with Madison. Through a complicated mix-up, he confuses her with another employee. Madison struggles to hold her feelings in check, knowing that she must soon reveal her true identity. This story presents a realistic portrait of the situations many people face during the holidays. Characters are realistic and well-developed. I was able to empathize with them, feeling both their laughter and pain. Highly entertaining read.

From the outside, Brent Halston and Jordan McKenna had the perfect life: the house, the dog, fulfilling careers, and their love. However, Jordan’s past refused to leave her alone, threatening to destroy all they had built together. Without explanation, Jordan pushed Brent out of her life, leaving him devastated and confused.

In an attempt to start over, Brent relocated to Fairfield Corners, bought an extravagant house, and mourned the loss of his Jojo. To keep herself from drowning in her own grief, Jordan gave everything she had to her career as a doctor, running the free clinic on the rough side of town. As the holiday season approached, a frantic phone call from Jordan’s brother pulled Brent back into Jordan’s life, giving them the opportunity to reconnect.

Battling the past and present, their love must survive secrets and betrayal, giving them one last chance to be together.

5 Stars for Last Chance Christmas

By Backstage Blogs

Another winner from LA Remenicky! I didn’t get into the Christmas spirit at all this year, but as I revisited Fairfield Corners this week, I decided there was no reason not to read a Christmas Story in February, and I am so glad that I made the right call. I am in love with Fairfield Corners – such an idyllic small town setting. Add in some rock stars and hot cops, what isn’t to love?

This quick read stars one of Adam’s bodyguards from his touring days, and the sister of another. (And another totally cool dog as well.) Plenty of drama, and a touch of suspense and an HEA in a beautiful Victorian setting. This could certainly be read as a standalone, but why not read Cassie and Ragan’s stories too? I absolutely adore this author, and hope we will see more books and novellas in the Fairfield Corners series – the town is so well described it could be another character in the series, and I adore it! If the weather could be 70 degrees year round it would probably be exactly where I would want to live.

Gimme more!!!

I really enjoyed getting Brent’s story. Like with all the books in the Fairfield Corner’s books this one, while a quick short read was full of mystery and suspense.

Loved getting to know Jordan and seeing the other characters from previous books.

My thing was I wanted so much more!!! I wanted more Jordan & Brent, but I get that it is just a novella which means short story.

I’m very hopeful that we’ll be getting more stories from the Fairfield Corner’s residents.

After a depressing year of sadness, loneliness, and self-doubt, successful civil engineer and former All-American basketball star Elizabeth (Betsy) Curry returns home to Oakville, Ohio, for the Christmas holidays a depressed and broken woman. Reeling from her bitter divorce from the handsome, charming, but morally decrepit Tommy DeMalio, her college sweetheart and first big love, who left her after two years of what she thought was a good marriage for a stripper he met at an office bachelor party for her co-worker, Betsy feels lost and empty. Not exactly anticipating the happy holiday with her family and their multitude of joyful Christmas customs and long-time storybook-like traditions, she knows she needs them in order to heal.
Once comfortable at home and feeling somewhat better about herself, Tommy shows up and claims he wants a reconciliation, throwing her back into the self-destructive cycle of doubt, hostility, and suspicion she is trying so hard to escape.
She discovers her father has set her up with his protégé at work, the tall, handsome, athletic red-haired Patrick, who, try as hard as she can, she can’t find a single thing she doesn’t like about him.
So, what’s the problem? Betsy feels it’s too soon for her to love again. How can she love anyone again when she doesn’t like herself or what she’s become since the break-up? Also, she fears she will hurt the sweet, gentle Patrick.
Will the love, joy, and goodwill of the holiday season coupled with the many long-time holiday customs and Curry family traditions help Betsy to find herself again? Will she be strong enough to lift herself out of her self-induced prison so that she can take another chance on love?

Another nice fireside read
By Jeffrey Wirth
“I Need Christmas” is book two of the “Oakville Family Christmas” anthology and keeps to the spirit of the series nicely. Being surrounded by family isn’t always the picture of a Norma Rockwell painting. Far too often it’s the exact opposite. But in Betsy Curry’s case it could not be more the reality. Betsy is recovering from a marriage that was at best a nice arrangement for her husband, who by the way, abruptly returns wanting another try (with ulterior motives). Having been done with him and comfortably surrounded by a loving family, Betsy is having none of his nonsense. Enter mystery man, Patrick. What will happen next? Find out by getting your copy of “I Need Christmas.”

What a ride for Christmas

I finished it in one reading, including during an annoying phone call. All I can say is don’t look away, and if you miss something go back. Author Carol Kauffman had me at the first murder. Yes, a Christmas book with a murder (or a few). “Christmas at Star Lake,” is a fast-paced, page-turner that will grip you and then slap you, all the while whisper Merry Christmas. If you like fast-paced thrillers, this is for you. Hats off to Carol…

Not your typical Christmas reading…
By Amazon Customer

Kauffman creates an interesting organization headed up by a protagonist with several layers–she’s strong, successful, and almost Byronic in that she can help other women so easily yet has a hard time helping herself. I was curious what personal hardship caused Madison to found a woman’s outreach program and how that factored into her difficulties with intimacy and supposed need for control, and I liked the idea that new love can heal old wounds without replacing the people for which we felt the hurt.

Telling the truth in fiction makes it believable. I felt like Kauffman presented a Christmas scenario that speaks to those millions who experience grief around the holiday season and gives them some hope that things can change for them–if they have a little faith.
