Eskild Fontaein should never have returned to his hometown. He could have stayed in the city where he was respected and admired, but no, he’d wanted to come home.
And as the newly appointed town magistrate, the only way to be taken seriously was to be feared. Hanging a thief should fit the bill.
He hadn’t wanted to do it. Wished he’d found another way.
Sometimes, wishes do come true.
Jaias Alvaldene, the scourge of Undcrest, madwoman, villain, thief, is dead.
Well, not quite. It helps to have friends in high places, namely on the steps of the gallows when one’s about to be hung from a rope.
She would have stayed dead too, if not for the town Magistrate who seemed so forlorn at her demise.
What’s a good thief to do when a magistrate comes crying?
When a young girl is stolen by a horde of cannibals, there’s only one person to ask for aid in rescuing her.
Once a Thief, Always a thief…
Can Eskild convince Jaias to help him find the child before it’s too late? Or will he lose everything to his Thief in the Night?

A strange but excellent standalone story that I highly recommend!

This was a very interesting standalone story in the author’s fairytales series and a very strange one! With lots of drama, tension, action, and some romance too, it makes for a great read.

Once upon a time, in a small shop sitting at the corner of the street, lived a cobbler, praying for salvation she never knew she needed.
It just so happened that at that moment, there was an elf, looking for the same…
Some stories were born to be retold, and some stories are the start of fairy tales waiting to be rewritten…

There is an ancient story, of a sorceress who lived deep within the waters of an enchanted lake and guarded with her presence a sword which Destiny had decreed would be used for the salvation of mankind, or for its downfall.
But the sword did not always live in the Waters…
And before it was struck in stone to await its fated bearer, the sorceress and her prince imbued the blade with its magic and its fortitude.
In the kingdom of Gouldaria, those without magic are the lowest of casts one can fall in, unless you are a Soul Eater, and then you are worse by far.
Valislava never used her magic to steal a soul. She has kept herself hidden, allowed herself to be shunned, lived in exile, all but for the love of the one man who she couldn’t have.
Prince Talyessin always knew who and what his Isla was, and he loved her still. But love was a meaningless thing when war threatened to tear them apart.

Another great read!

Once again, Lawrencovna delivers an imaginative, well-written tale with Forevermore. And, once again, I enjoyed it very much. My only complaint being that it was just too short (yes, I knew it was supposed to be, but found myself hoping for more.) Lawrencovna is a delightful writer, and I’m looking forward to reading more of her work.

There was an old woman who lived in a shoe;
She had so many children, she didn’t know what to do.
She fed them all broth without any bread;
Then whipped them all soundly and sent them to bed.
~Mother Goose, The Dorling Kindersley Book of Nursery Rhymes (2000)
She took them from the woods, and she took them from dells, from hamlets and homesteads and across the wide world, she found young orphans, those abandoned and left on their own, and gave them a home.
And all she asked for was a little piece of their soul in payment…
Whoever said nursery rhymes were harmless?

I can’t get enough of Lawrencovna’s books.

I can’t stop reading Lawrencovna’s books. She has a way with her writing style that makes you feel like you’re right there with the characters. You’ll feel sympathy for the children in this book and wish you could be there to help.
Her story will keep you reading until the amazing end.
I highly recommend this and all books by Andi Lawrencovna.

It’s time. Within a year the Prince must die, or he and his people and his kingdom will survive uncontested. Within a year, but there are those already on the move, already lying in wait to fulfill fate. Reports of a mercenary army have begun to spread throughout the land. Soldiers have been called to prepare for war and captains have been summoned to lead them. Spies have been sent forth to gather information. Assassins have been requisitioned to hunt out those meant to die.
And princes have been sent to hide deep within the woods.
Kit can’t help looking around every corner for his Captain far away on her own mission. Perhaps he should look harder for the trees to hide more secrets than just the elves of the forest.
How long can you hide from your enemies find you? How long can you lie before the truth sets you free? And who will find you when the smoke clears, and you’re safe once more?
How much can you endure before you can’t bear the burden of prophecy anymore?
Once upon a time…

Beautifully written ending to Eli and Kit’s story

The Prince ends Eli and Kit’s story while leaving the door open for infinite possibilities in Never Land. As we’ve come to expect from Ms. Lawrencovna’s books, there is fantastic action, political intrigue, and battles for entire kingdoms. Eli grows even more as a character in this book, while still retaining her snarky, kickass exterior. Kit finally becomes the leader his people have been waiting for, ready to fight for everyone, no matter the curse. And do Eli and Kit live happily ever after? Oh, c’mon. Like I’d really tell you. Highly recommend this book!

In the Never Lands, Birthday Celebrations tend to be a little more festive than in other worlds. No silly little parties with only family and friends, but rather grand balls with princes and princesses and assassins, oh my.
What’s a ball without some intrigue?
Have a Happy Birthday with Prince Christophe as he celebrates in The First Ball.
Fairy Tales just got a little bit darker.

Great little starter story
This short story is a good startup to the Charming series written by Ms. Lawrencovna. It’s easy to read and introduces the characters. Kit, a prince whose father wants him married, hasn’t found a bride. Many balls have been arranged and then he meets someone unexpected. But if you think this is going to be a typical fairy tale, think again.
Very well written.

Once Upon a Time… Prince Christophe can’t die. Or, more precisely, if he dies, so does his country. But that hasn’t stopped the King from hosting a ball. And it hasn’t stopped Kit’s enemies from seeking a quick end between the quadrille and the waltz. The Children of the Wood hold out hope that their Assassin Queen will fulfill the prophecy and end Kit’s life. But when Ella vies for the prince’s attention, it’s not a knife that pierces his heart or her own. One waltz at a ball. One trip of a slipper. One Prince. And one Assassin. In the world of the Never Lands, Fairy Tales aren’t quite like you remember.

Not your average Cinderella tale
What an amazing twist to the Cinderella tale children grow up hearing. Desire, action, and intrigue.
Ella isn’t exactly a poor human beaten down by a stepfamily in this tale. Oh no, she is a leader and powerful in her own right.
Prince Charming, “Kit”, isn’t your average pampered prince looking for a bride either. He is strong and loyal and living under a long-standing curse.
Will Ella be able to break this curse and can they possibly have a happily ever after?
I can’t wait to read the next installment and learn more about this intriguing world they inhabit.

There was a time before Prince Christophe was born when the worst fate his people had to worry about was war with their troll neighbors or an invasion from elfin forces beyond the woods. But that was before he was born and was cursed.
If he dies, so do his people.
Such a simple phrase, so oblique, and yet Kit has lived his life in fear of the prophecy, searching every shadow for assassins come to get him.
Until she came and took up arms in his defense.
Warrior and witch. Assassin and priest. She was his teacher and his protector. His friend. The only woman ever to run from him at the end of a ball, and the only woman he ever asked to stay.
But Eli is an outsider in the human world, and trusted only so far, even by the man who desires more from her than her skill with a blade. The longer she remains with him, the more she falls for her prince in a world where her prince’s life is the fate of his lands.
As the time of the prophecy draws near, Eli and Kit will face more than dwarves and shadows to find solace with each other and salvation for their people.
Sometimes the one most suited to protect you is the one who holds the sharpest blade.
And there is no sharper sword than:
The Captain.

Fantastic follow up to Charming, with more backstory and intrigue

Hundreds of years and Eli and Kit are still dancing around each other. Honestly, those two seriously need a couples therapist to help with all their trust issues, Kit’s rather awful curse, and Eli’s sense of hopelessness. This book has a lot of information, but since hundreds of years pass within the novel, this isn’t surprising. Kit is shown as a loyal, competent leader who his people can depend on in a crisis (and they do manage to find themselves in crisis rather a lot). Eli’s loyalty is mostly to Kit, teaching him how to fight and protecting him from those that wish to harm him, and through him, his people. It’s rather clear this novel is in the middle of the series because nothing really gets resolved. However, this makes the next novel very important, since there are a lot of strings that need to be brought together.

I think one of the most wonderful things about The Captain is Eli herself. It’s important to see highly competent, badass ladies swoop in to save the day, instead of relying on princes to rescue them. This is a fantastic change from the fairy tale, and I, personally, can’t wait to see what happens next with Eli and Kit. Highly recommend!

In a world where the Gods walk and their spirits commune with mankind, there must be those trained while in a trance to intercede with them, for the good of the tribe.
Mondoani, a young woman, is chosen by the Gods to take the place of the Old Mother upon her passing. Is this frail young woman strong enough to carry the spirits of the Gods? Can she learn quickly enough to save her people from possible famine and death?

For it will be her responsibility to carry the memories of all those who have passed from this life and to help protect and lead her people across the dead lands and snowy plains to a place they can safely spend the winter. But before she can accomplish that she must choose an apprentice from among the young girls and women, someone who can take her place should she fall.

Will Mondoani’s youth and inexperience condemn the tribe to death or will she rise above it and with the help of the magical world choose correctly?

The Keeper of the Memories

Bishop gives us the story of the tribe and its Memory Keeper. The Old Mother must soon pass from the world, and she chooses Mondoani to take her place. She must care for her people in their harsh land. The tribe and its land is painted with care, and their story is crafted with care. The people live lives that to us are exotic, and their traditions and way of life are alien. The reader sees a life that entices him into a new world and time. Well done!
