DARE TO WALK IN THEIR WORLD! ALPHA BY JO PILSWORTH

51jtUcXhunL._SY346_Can a Welsh legend, born in the 15th century, still be relevant in the 21st century?

“I have walked this world for 410 years, with 170 years having passed since I assumed the role of Alpha of the Cŵn Annwn. In that time, I have seen the world change dramatically from an agrarian society to one where common words include terms like ‘global warming’ due to the pollution levels engendered by mankind’s activities in less than a couple of centuries. I have found my Mate, I have lost close family, and throughout, I have remained true to my promise to my Goddess.”

“I harvest souls.”

“My duty lies with my Goddess, who has tasked me with bringing her the souls of evil-doers. Strange how they seem a tad reluctant to pay for their evil. But there is more to my role than that. For all the evil in the world, there are innocents, and as the gatekeeper to the Underworld, not the Hell that modern religions would suggest, but a place of rest, my Goddess has charged me to bring those for whom a reward for their suffering is due. For them, there is the choice of rest, or rebirth. Most choose rest, and paradise for each is different.”

“I was born Gabriel Black, although for the last few centuries, I have been known as Gavril Negrescu. These are our tales of my Mate and my Pack, our sorrows and our triumphs. Perhaps one day, evil will be no more. I am not holding my breath.”

“Alpha” is the first volume in “The Diaries of the Cwn Annwn” series and may be read as a stand-alone novel. Gavril and his Mate must lead their Pack through an ever changing world. Has mankind evolved enough that they are no longer needed?

MEET TOHO ANOTHER WONDERFUL SHIFTER IN THE CWN ANNWN

Josh Abbott knew nothing of the paranormal world. The stories told by his beloved great-grandfather were just that: stories. He wanted nothing more than to serve his country. Joining the US Marine Corps, qualifying and excelling as a Scout Sniper gave him an immense sense of pride. Then, whilst on a mission in the Middle East, he wakes to find himself in a place, where an unknown organization will teach him the true meaning of Hell.

Dylann Creed was a cougar-shifter, born of shifter parents. Blaming herself for her mother’s death when she was a child, she rebelled against her father’s need to keep her safe by fleeing the family home, and making her living as a model with the help of her high school friend and photographer, Eric. Until one day, she comes across a male cougar caught in a trap.

Josh and Dylann. Will Dylann be able to heal Josh of both the mental and physical scars inflicted by those wanting to force him to change to a creature he had not believed existed? In return, will Josh be able to help the apparently free-spirited Dylann understand the true meaning of freedom? Will Dylann be able to convince her Marine that he can embody the spirit of Toho, the Spirit of the Cougar? Will Josh help Dylann to understand what that spirit can mean to her?

Excellent transition between character ‘voices’. I could ‘feel’ each character, much of which was created by great introspection. I’m not usually a fan of shifter stories because they are so unnatural, but Toho made the shifter world real for me. The suspense created by his character was very well done. I loved the addition of the child Dylann because it removed the ‘need’ for a romance. Nice work. With another round of edits, this book could warrant 5*

THIS ROMANCE HAS A BITE! Merysekhmet: Legend inspired love story with bite (Diaries of the Cwn Annwn: Hellfire Pack) JO PILSWORTH

Merysekhmet: Legend inspired love story with bite (Diaries of the Cwn Annwn: Hellfire Pack) by [Jo Pilsworth, Kaitlyn Bosch]

Ramses Tariq-Omari has walked the world of man for millennia, a lion shifter, a healer and a soldier, he protects those who know nothing of the paranormal world, of the creatures that seek to harm them. Having served the Goddess Sekhmet since the age of ten, it has been lonely existence indeed, but one he has never regretted having chosen.

Elizabeth DeAnglo needed ‘time out’ from hunting paranormal creatures. Taking a job as a PA to a Wall Street seemed like a plan, until she discovered that her new boss was also the wolf-shifter Alpha of the Hellfire Pack. Since the loss of her fiancé and child to a Wendigo attack, she has trained as a paranormal hunter, driven to hunt down the creature responsible. Only then is she certain that she will find peace. Despite living and working with the Hellfire Pack, despite having a family in her fellow paranormal hunters, she is alone, always on the periphery. When she is attacked, again, by unknown Hellhounds, Elizabeth wonders why she is being targeted. She also wonders at the identity of the mystery archer who comes to her aid.

A millennia-old paranormal warrior and a modern day paranormal hunter. Two sides in opposition, yet fighting the same enemy. The attack will change Elizabeth’s life and force her to face some harsh truths. Can she straddle the worlds of the paranormal and those who hunt them? What will happen if she is forced to choose? Can love overcome the deep-seated prejudice which Ramses will face from Elizabeth’s friends?

Merysekhmet is the first paranormal romance novel written by Jo Pilsworth and Kaitlyn Bosch, two friends who met via Facebook role-play. Based on the legend of the Egyptian Goddess Sekhmet, it forms part of the Diaries of the Cwn Annwn: Hellfire Pack series. Content is aimed at an 18+ audience and contains scenes of mild violence. Some sexual content.

I’ve read several parts in this series now and have loved them all. There is a really fascinating backstory to these shifters that makes them stand out and each part deepens the mythos. In this one there is a Merysekhmet as the lead hero, Ramses. What he is, is truly unique, and I’ll not spoil any details about that. The chemistry between him and Elizabeth was wonderfully done. Another thing I enjoy is that the romances in these are very natural and unfold alongside of a story. It was also neat to see a few characters I knew from later parts. I read them out of order, but that’s okay because they can all be read alone as each is a complete story. If you are looking for paranormal romance that has more to bite into, you can’t go wrong with any of the books in this series.

MEET MEDVED ONE OF THE GLORIOUS SHIFTERS FROM JO PILSWORTHS IMAGINATION!

Medved: Military shifter romance, inspired by legend (Diaries of the Cwn Annwn: Hellfire Pack) Kindle Edition

“Determine the source of ‘unstoppable assets’ advertised to terrorist organisations” was my brief from my Commanding Officer. “Investigate the disappearances of several young shifters” was the request from my brother, the titular ruler of shifters in what used to be the Warsaw Pact and the former USSR.

Nowhere in either did it say encounter Hellhounds, Cwn Annwn, demigods, and a couple of seriously crazy science types.to find my predestined Mate. Let’s not forget having to squeeze my 6ft 5in, back-row rugby player build into an economy plane seat. Admittedly that was after I underestimated my Mate: my Kaitlyn. Never underestimate an intelligent female.

Then again, life is never simple if you are a bear shifter serving, not just in the British Army, but also in G Squadron of the SAS. Captain Sergei Medvedovitch Vasilev at your service. This is my story.

 A great story

A wonderful story from start to finish. It revolves around a bear shifter named Sergie and a human named Kate, at least that’s what Sergie believes at a chance encounter at a bar where they both end up getting kidnapped by a shady organization hellbent on creating shifters and weaponizing them through “genetic breeding experiments”. All this occurs within the first few chapters, which makes it a real page turner to see how it all plays out. After that, the story unfolds with a lot of drama, suspense and a few surprises that I won’t spoil. A wonderful story in a brilliant series, I highly recommend it!

Fane: Journal of an Alpha Hellhound: paranormal romance with attitude (Diaries of the Cwn Annwn)

Fane: Journal of an Alpha Hellhound: paranormal romance with attitude (Diaries of the Cwn Annwn) by [Pilsworth, Jo]Fane Anghelescu, Hellhound Alpha. Over-protective and paranoid, according to his sister. But he swore an oath to a Queen of Hell. He swore to serve body and soul if Lamashtu Anzillu would protect his sister, Roxana.

She’s Hell-born Demon. She broke her oath before the blood was dry on the contract. What happens when Fane finds he has been played?

And if that is not enough, other Hellhound Packs are trying to kill him and annihilate his Pack. And the return of a mystery Pack female, Stefania. Life ain’t simple, that’s certain.

This is really a complex book with lots of interesting angles and action. Fane is a hellhound bound in servitude to a Queen of the underworld when she chooses him to be alpha of her hellhound pack. You start off wondering how your going to like this guy because he pretty much detests humans and uses them to feed his queen, but the story didn’t detail that much. He’s very protective of his pack and especially his sister, Roxana. So when a female hellhound name Stephania who is a hunter shows up out of the blue and claims to be a member of his pack, Fane’s suspicious. She claims the queen sent her on a special mission which is where she’s been for the last 55 years, but Fane is not getting the whole story from her and he doesn’t like it. He sees potential in her though and makes her lead hunter. But Stephania has an uphill battle to fight to be accepted by the pack.
There is something Fane finds intriguing about Stephania, but he doesn’t want to admit it to himself. There is a lot of pull and tug between the two, attraction and mistrust. But you do see the softer side of Fane come out with Stephania who compliments him quite well and she challenges him too.
I liked the romance element very much as well as all the internal and external challenges of the two main characters. I love PNR and this book did not disappoint. I do think the book could stand a good edit, but the few errors definitely did not distract from the story itself.

Gavril is a Cwn Annwn. His job is to harvest souls, and he travels to do just that. He’s not prepared to find his mate, but when he does, it’s not long before they have a child. Their world gets caught up in that of Nazi Germany. In the war, many lives are lost, and it’s up to the Cwn Annwn to save people from a cruel fate at the hands of war criminals.

Fantastic concept wrapped up with beautiful landscapes and relatable characters. There’s plenty of action in this story too. I’m not usually one for historical fiction, but this story was different. I thought the touch of paranormal was especially unique, and it pulled me into the story. I also liked the way the author realistically portrayed emotions. I hate instanta love, so I was happy to see that this wasn’t one of those stories.

Gavril approached his mate with the same sense of level-headedness that he did every other challenge. And it was refreshing to see the way that he and his mate gradually grew into a state of bliss with one another.

The writing style also made it easy to get lost within this story. I’m happy to see this is the first book to the series. That means more to come!

IF FANE WAS BAD CYSGODION IS THAT MUCH WORSE CYSGODION BY JO PILSWORTH

CYSGODIONTEASER

Casimir Gosselin. If Fane was bad, Casimir was well beyond that. A psychopath and barely leashed by his sire, the Alpha of the Gosselin Pack. If there was one thing on which both the Cwn Annwn and the Anghelescu Hellhounds knew, it was that Casimir Gosselin was their enemy.

You have the picture? I was the personification of psychopathically evil. Strangely enough, the encouragement to write my side of the story has come from my sister, Alix Gosselin, now mated to Bran Cadwgan, Beta of the Cwn Annwn. Now, I could give you some clues. One thing is certain, I am not some sad, misunderstood being. I own what I have done and to whom I have done it. The question is whether you think that what lies in the shadows is justified.

Cysgodion is a novella of 44,000 words, and ideally should be read before the Hellfire Pack series. Either way, you have to decide what makes Casimir Gosselin tick.
