Great Read

Beyond Duty: Love on the Double Book Two was a great read by L.A. Remenicky. Jessie served as a Marine and has finally found life at home. He becomes an EMT and helps his best friend rescuing dogs. Dori is running from her ex when she meets Jessie. She is stranded with a flat tire that she can’t fix because she has no jack. Jessie helps her. She is trying to ignore their attraction but it isn’t easy for her. I loved reading Jessie and Dori’s story and can’t wait to read more by L.A. Remenicky. Johnny Cee did another great job of narrating the characters.

November 12, 2052: Earth has lost two-thirds of its population to the Great War. Many more lives have been lost to earthquakes, the Clover Virus, and the Death Plague. Years later, survivors are clumped into factions. Two of those factions—the Brotherhood and the Guild Faction—have battled over medical supplies and food for years. The fight is coming to a head as manpower dwindles and the struggle becomes one to gain numbers, even if said numbers are children…
Griffin Storm, an albino man kidnapped and dragged into the Brotherhood, has transformed into a G.O.D., a Genetically enhanced Omni-dimensional being. Two weeks in the brig, and Griffin’s released after it’s determined that he’s learned to control most of his god-like abilities. His abilities have grown almost as much as his love for Tassta Vinetti and his unfortunate blood lust. His bond with Tassta’s twin brother, Penn, has grown as well and is cemented in secrets.
Soon after his release, Griffin’s told that Guild agents and the notorious Trips (super-agents of the Guild) are in the Underground. He must now test his abilities to save the abandoned children that live there. Will Griffin rescue the children of the Underground from a tragic end? “THE STAR” is an enchanting book, illustrated with beautiful, colorful, and whimsical paintings, by world-renowned artist Judy Mastrangelo. It contains the entire immortal poem, which is also known as “TWINKLE TWINKLE LITTLE STAR”, written by Jane Taylor. Judy has interpreted this in a unique and enthralling way, with delightful Fantasy Animals and other imaginative characters, all playing in a Magical Night-time Sky. Review:“THE STAR” is certainly a star release. Beautifully put together, handsomely designed and delicious in every way. This book will make a fine addition to the collections of those who love great artwork.

A book for who appreciates soft, classic, traditional illustration.

I got really interested in Judy Mastrangelo right when I first met her work. A contemporary artist doing such a meticulous artwork in this classic, traditional style is a really rare thing to find. I was very intrigued and curious to read and see her books. The Star is a book illustrating the famous poem Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star by Jane Taylor. I think the book is nice. The illustrations inside the book are as lovely as the cover illustration. The ageless, soft style in pink, blue and yellow of the illustrations fits nicely this classic poem. I appreciate the dedication with which these images were made, creating a dreamy world of orderly, sweet beauty. The design and formatting of the book are ok, but I think that these illustrations deserve more refined formatting. I recommend this book for children and adults who appreciate soft, classic, traditional illustrations.

“Very interesting story with characters that will draw you in, a writing style that makes you feel like you are there and an author willing and able to play with your imagination and emotions with finesse.” – Viral Storm: A Dystopian Zombie Apocalypse Thriller (Viral Series Book 2) by Jade Lazlow

“The sores forming with unholy speed on Harley’s arms and legs confirmed the infection was spreading. Its poison surged through her veins with such momentum that she could feel its sting in the current of her pulse. Unrelenting pain seared every cell, and she struggled to maintain focus, despite the fever raging in her blood.” – Viral Storm
Viral Storm continues the story of Casey Williams and her friends attempting to flee the country and expose the evil work of BioGenetics, creators of the virus that spawned the zombie apocalypse. Euthanizing her best friend, who’d been infected with the virus, was the most soul-crushing thing Casey could have imagined, but that was nothing compared to what happens next… Like the first book in the series, Viral Dawn, Viral Storm has gore, violence, and dark themes common in zombie apocalyptic fiction, but the book focuses more on the characters’ lives than other elements. The story centers on strong, young adult female characters as do similar books in female-centered dystopian fiction like The Hunger Games, Twilight, Divergent, and The Year of the Flood. Join Casey as her struggle for survival continues in Viral Storm.

Enjoyable, well-crafted story that ramps up the tone of the series

I stumbled upon the first book in The Viral Series by Skyler Rankin a couple of months ago. Initially, I was going to pass because it seemed lumped in the YA category and I am not that young, nor an adult … at least according to everyone that knows me. However, with the limited options available in this post-apocalyptic, overrun by the undead world that we live in, I thought I should give it a go.
I’m glad I did.
The first book was a quick read for me because it quickly caught my interest and then held it through to the end. So much so that when the opportunity presented itself to read Viral Storm, book two in the Viral Series, I had to jump on it.
Much like the first, the characters and story quickly drew me in. And much like everything else in life, a change occurs. Good change, but definitely change.
While the first book touched on many themes universal to the zombie literature I’ve read, it did so in some original, relatively light and almost innocent ways.
Viral Storm continues in a similar way … until it doesn’t. Book two takes the story down a little darker and more graphic path, one that may catch some readers off guard. It may even be a little disturbing to some of the younger YA readers but really, compared to some other content I’ve read in the category it’s not too over the top. Just something to be aware of.
Very interesting story with characters that will draw you in, a writing style that makes you feel like you are there and an author willing and able to play with your imagination and emotions with finesse.
I can’t wait to see where we go with book 3!

I didn’t want it to end!

I had a hard time putting this book down; it was a real page-turner! I love when I find a book like that!

I loved the characters, especially Carson Reno, because they brought to life in this wonderful book.

There was suspense and enough comedy to make the story believable! I can’t wait to read more from Gerald Darnell!

I highly recommend Dead End to anyone who loves mysteries!

Will he find her?

Wow! So I received this book as ARC for an honest review. I never heard of Desiree Scott, but after reading Chasing Chelsey I am a fan. This book drew me in from the very first page. The story is about. The girl who is running from her past. She does not let anyone come close, cause when he does they end up missing or dead. She meets the St. CLAIR brothers and they are vowing never to let anyone hurt her. I read this book in 1 day. Could not put it down needed to know what happens next.

As retired insurance office manager Skye McKenna launches a new career as a children’s book author., she embarks on a book tour in Australia, where she meets a reclusive elephant-loving veterinarian. Why does he seem so familiar? And so attractive? And how old is TOO old to find love?
The TIME AFTER TIME series follows a pair of quintessential lovers, Richard and Nicole, through their lives together, at different times, in different places, with different names and faces. This follows the alternate theory that the relationships we forge in this lifetime, both good and bad, are continued in the future and rooted in the past. Those people who have had a profound effect on us in this life will find us in the future.

How many lifetimes have you sought out your true love and found them again and again?

Did you ever have a dream about a person for years that you never met, but you know you know them very well? And when you do finally meet, the both of you have memories for things you did together, years ago, centuries ago, another lifetime ago? And the both of you know the others name from another time? Well, this happened to Skye and Derrick in their 60’s.
When they both called each other by their other name, I got goosebumps! Some people are meant to be with each other forever and that means from lifetime to another. Somehow, one way or the other, they find each other. I like to think my Husband and I are like that. I believe that you live on in your sprite form until God has another plan for you. So why not being with the only one for you, your Soul Mate, from lifetime to lifetime and so on?
This is a very touching story and makes you think about who you are with and people that you have met and felt a connection to right away. I love how Carol put this story together. It’s a love story of a different kind. Sweet, mystery, funny and heartwarming all rolled into one.
