A FIRST CLASS READ
I loved Seasons of Our Love. The well developed characters nudged their way into my heart or not. Some I loved to hate. I rooted for Danny and Rosie from start to finish. The story moves, but not linearly. With lots of twists and turns, you might want to fasten your seat belts. Whenever I put the book aside, the story lived inside my head calling me back. I never stayed away too long because I knew the author had more surprises in store. I hope there’s a sequel because I didn’t want this one to end. Angela wove an intriguing, compelling romance that anyone with a soft heart will want to read. I look forward to more from Angela Gascoigne.

Another winner!!!
Ride or Die is the second book in the Nice Ink
series, though it can be read as a standalone. All of the featured characters from the first book play a role in this book too. The two main characters, Derek and Flynn actually met in the first book. Although Derek showed an interest in Flynn from their first meeting, Flynn’s feelings were not known. In Ride or Die, we find out that Flynn returns Derek’s interest, but won’t act on it, for reasons of his own. Despite not receiving much of an encouragement, Derek doesn’t want to give up on Flynn and manages to get a first date with him. That goes well and they form a relationship. Flynn is still reluctant though, but Derek, suspecting something troubling in Flynn’s past, decides to be patient. Only time will tell if his patience will prove fruitful. It was great to see all of the characters returning and their interactions with each other. Like the first book, there is a lot of humour and good-natured ribbing going on between the characters.

Indelible by Samantha Jacobey is the fifth book in The New Life Series. This book picks up where Exposed left off. Tori has been trying to settle into her new life. She now has Michael by her side, and some of the questions from her past have been answered. This now brings a new set of problems for Tori. She now has a brother that is a rockstar, and he has seen her play the guitar and wants her to join the band. But Tori’s fears keep her from seeing how good she really is. Michael just wants things to go back to the way they were. She wants to settle down and have a normal life since she was robbed of one as a child. But just when you think things are going good, she is thrown into yet another set of problems. Can Tori and Michael’s relationship really last when she gets unexpected news that someone from her past is in needs her help? I have loved this whole series so far and can’t wait to see what Samantha has in store for the next book.

This three-book set of A Poet’s Journey poetry collection, covers the good, bad, and beautiful of being a human. You will laugh, cry, and find something in these books that will strike deep cords within you.The process of growth of the human soul is a difficult one and made more difficult by the trials and tragedies of life. But, there is also love, humor, and desire in these pages.

STRAIGHT FROM THE HEART…
I truly enjoyed this collection of poems from Marta Moran Bishop. The deep emotions, observations, and insights come straight from her heart onto the page. “Life’s Miracles,” one of my favorites, talks about how busy society is, so focused on the television that we forget to focus on life. The poet’s style is short and simple, but abounding in truth.
The poems she wrote for her mother and sister, “A Tribute To My Mother,” and “I’m Not Ready To Lose My Sister,” are poignant, heart-wrenching, beautiful, and immensely relatable. In other poems, her sharp words for those who have hurt her pack a wallop. These poems make the reader think about her/his own life and those who have strayed, betrayed, or merely played with one’s emotions. What I love about Marta Moran Bishop’s work is that while vulnerable, she always shows her ability to rebound, to gather strength, and to help others by sharing her truths.
With an appreciative and loving eye for the outdoors, she has a keen and special way of embracing the nuances of nature.
The author’s first book, Wee Three: A Child’s World, remains one of my favorite books of children’s verse.
