The complexity of the story is interesting, exciting, and makes for a fantastic read. WHERE TYNDRA TURNS TO ARDNYT A. NICKY HJORT

where tyndra turns to ardnyt blurb.jpgIn the center of a magical world there grows a beautiful and terrible chasm of climbing plants. On one side of the Ivy Wall we find the hell-of-Tyndra, on the other, the heaven-of-Ardnyt. But legend has it that in the middle…lives a preternatural beast that imprisons and tortures the children from both sides.

When the war against time begins, Azza will have to cross over the Ivy Wall, something that has never been done before by a living being. But if she does make it through, she just might discover who she really is and how she became trapped in this alternate reality.

A fairytale at heart, this is the first chapter in the epic saga of the youngest and most fickle of the four Norn Sisters. The same feisty immortal creature who must escape her inherent inner darkness to learn the meaning of love.

A veritable palindrome from start to finish, the narrative of Where Tyndra Turns to Ardnyt journeys through duality to discover what shocking truths emerge when up becomes down, life becomes death, suffering becomes release, and the most unexpected endings become the most surprising beginnings.

Welcome to a place where forwards and backwards are exactly the same direction. Here Where Tyndra Turns to Ardnyt.

I first read this story as part of the Winter Lites collection. “Where Tyndra Turns to Ardnyt” is a true palindrome, a world mirrored backward and forward. This story is a standout reminiscent of the best works of Neil Gaiman and Charles De Lint, with the beauty of your favorite fairy tale and the brilliance of your favorite classic. It’s impossible not to fall in love with Azza as you share her journey. I can’t wait for the next novella to be released!

November 12, 2052: Earth has lost two-thirds of its population to the Great War. Many more lives have been lost to earthquakes, the Clover Virus, and the Death Plague. Years later, survivors are clumped into factions. Two of those factions—the Brotherhood and the Guild Faction—have battled over medical supplies and food for years. The fight is coming to a head as manpower dwindles, and the struggle becomes one to gain numbers, even if said numbers are children…
Griffin Storm, an albino man kidnapped and dragged into the Brotherhood, has transformed into a G.O.D., a Genetically enhanced Omni-dimensional being. Two weeks in the brig, and Griffin’s released after it’s determined that he’s learned to control most of his god-like abilities. His abilities have grown almost as much as his love for Tassta Vinetti and his unfortunate bloodlust. His bond with Tassta’s twin brother, Penn, has grown as well and is cemented in secrets.
Not disappointed!
Griffin, having earned the trust of Fortress authorities, is set to be released from The Brig, much to the delight of Tassta, his sweetheart. Although Griffin still has a lot to learn about balancing his newfound abilities against his inherent humanity, overall he does well and has enough control over his abilities to prevent caving into his inner desires. As his and Tassta’s romance heats up, Griffin gets the horrifying news soon after his release, Griffin’s told that Guild agents and the notorious Trips (super-agents of the Guild) are in the Underground. He must now test his abilities to save the abandoned children that live there. Will Griffin rescue the children of the Underground from a tragic end? Will Tassta and Griffin’s love survive such turmoil? Can a G.O.D. forgive himself when death and destruction follow his every move? Read Blood Phase, the gripping second book in the G.O.D.s Series!

Awesome

An awesome follow up to Blood Master: Book 1 of The G.O.D.s Series
Blood Phase follows on seamlessly from book one, and we rejoin Griffin, Tassta, Lerin and all, in the continuing story.
Once again the characters are well-fleshed out and have their own personalities, and are like friends I’ve known for years. I feel their love, fear, confusion, frustration, and sorrow, and my heart goes out to them.
The descriptive writing draws you in and keeps you there through all the twists, turns, and action, and doesn’t let go until you turn the last page.
I am eager to read the next book and discover what happens next

Everyone else can fall in love and live happily ever after, but Xavier Owens doesn’t plan on doing the same. The only thing missing in his life is someone to share his kink, but that’s not going to happen. The last time Xavier let someone into that part of his life left him with a bruised ego and a broken heart. While both have long since mended, he’s not interested in falling in love again. Fate has other plans in the form of sweet and shy Oliver Nice. There’s something about the man that draws Xavier to him like a moth to a flame. Hopefully, this time he won’t get burned.

This is a 78K word novel with no cheating and a guaranteed HEA. Although it’s part of a series, it can be read as a standalone.

Exactly what I was hoping for!

I have read (and loved) each of the previous Nice Ink books, and this was no exception. I wasn’t sure what X and Oliver’s story would involve, and I wasn’t expecting some of the twists in the book, but they just made the story even better. The simple joy of the characters in each other was heartwarming especially in these uncertain times. I received an ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Tori is Exposed !!!!!!!!!

Tori and Michael are off with the FBI who showed up at their little place out in Texas. What did they want with Tori this time? Well so much transpires in this book. We are finding out even more about Tori and her very horrible past. As you remember back in book 3 we read as Tori got married to Michael who is the brother of Henry the man in the gang The Dragons who was determined to save Tori although he lost his life that did not stop him from trying. Michael was the security for a band. Brian was the leader of that Band and for some reason he never liked Tori. Well we learn that Brian has more in common with Tori then just music. WOW, shocker there.

While Tori takes off to deal with yet another gang and The Organization and Michael is off to protect The Band yet again.

Unfortunately thanks to the FBI and whatever it is they are up to Tori is not out of this yet. She is yet again torn away from a somewhat normal life finally and thrown right back into the Gang life she has tried to get away from.

Tori may have killed all the members of The Dragons but now she is thrown into another gang. We follow her through so much turmoil. Brett the leader of the motorcycle gang has now told Tori a lot about her sorted past.

What’s in store for Tori now? Life just doesn’t want to be good to her that’s for sure.
But just like all the previous books. Tori is one very tough woman and in Exposed she is no less than a strong woman.

Kudo’s again Samantha Jacobey. This book kept me reading and I want more !!!

This book has it all – ghosts, time travel, Texas Rangers, murder, and a little romance!

I found this book to be very interesting. It incorporates many fun topics like ghosts, murder, love story, time travel, and of course, Texas Rangers. The deeper story is that of love in healing. I could not put the story down and had to complete it to see how it wrapped up. The writing was such that I found myself fully engaged in the story and hoping that things were going to work out for the “good guys”. With the backdrop of murder, I found myself incredibly anxious throughout the entire work. This is a really good read. There were some unfulfilled characters and sub-plots that I look forward to hearing about incoming works.

“Life & Society as we know it can take a twisted terrible path” – The Between Times (Jewell in the Dark, Volume II) by Marta Moran Bishop

Marta jewell in the dark 10-22-18
Line Blurb
In the days when the corporations rule the world. The middle class is gone, and the cities are divided into upper and lower towns.
The upper towns are domed to protect the rich from the foul air that permeates the world, from the waste that fills the air, and fumes that blacken the sky from the smokestacks of the factories. The water is heavily rationed in the lower towns and barely drinkable, so fouled by the chemicals that fill the rivers and springs.
While in the upper town the water is purified even in the fountains and swimming pools that grace the world of the high and mighty. The shops, boutiques, restaurants, and museums are crowded in the upper town, music can be heard everywhere, and the flowers grow tall and beautiful.
While the people of the lower towns work six days a week, in sixteen to eighteen-hour shifts. There one day off is Sunday, it is then that the men and young boys must be found in the church, while the women and girls are kept at home, for they are considered to be beasts for breeding and less important than the animals that grace the zoos of the upper towns. Food is scarce in the lower town, and the only market is the company store.
The world has stepped back into the dark ages. Nearly all hope is gone to those not born into wealth and only the prophecy that one day a young woman will come who can control the magic of the between times keeps the poor going. It is said she will be able to pull on the energy of all those who are of like mind, wrap that energy together and send it into the world to remake it.
Marta Moran Bishop takes the reader through a possible future. Unlike Orwell’s, Animal Farm and 1984, or Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451, The Between Times is not based on the government ‘Big Brother,’ but rather it is written using a recent ruling by the Supreme Court that says corporations are people. In The Between Times, we are shown the possibility of a world where the poor are considered to be a beast of burden, good only for the labor they can produce or the war they can fight, to enable the war profiteers to make more money.
Poor women are used for breeding and considered to be the property of men and the corporation. There is no way for the uneducated and isolated poor, move up the latter, for the middle class is gone.
In this short novel, The United States had taken a social, economic, and cultural step backward, to a time when our world consisted of lords and serfs. The only thing that keeps those who are not in the ruling class of the elite, going is the belief in a prophecy, that one day a girl will be born who will have the ability to unite all kindred spirits past, present, and future, to bring change to the world.
A truly amazingly imaginative book.

Life & Society as we know it can take a twisted terrible path

Marta Moran Bishop has penned a fascinating what-if dystopian sequence of two novels available as book one and two or as a boxed set. I was fortunate to get the boxed set from Audible.com and listen to together with my family in lockdown to Darkness Descends (the prequel) and The Between Times (the sequel). I ‘ll not rehash the details of the story as this is a review and not a report. The intensity and brutality of the people in power in these novels, the sheer level of cruelty has Bishop vying with serial killer novelists and TV shows like Criminal Minds and CSI. Bishop sets the stage well, uses props masterfully, and the story unfolds to the ear like a Broadway rendition of 1984 or Fahrenheit 451 with a goodly dose of Brave New World. Still, while the dark side of the power brokers is genuinely executed and in places hard to stomach due to the attention to detail and the interplay of dialogue and character, there is the bright hope of Jewell herself, like a shining beacon on the lost hill. This is an American dystopia played out in Chicago, and the author’s obvious knowledge of the city struck me hard as I grew up in Chicago and have used the same city for many of my own writings. The novel here reminded me of just how long people have been declaring the men and women made the richest BY Chicago and Chicagoans have done badly in supporting the most vulnerable among us. In 1893 a visiting Englishman, a reporter who died on the Titanic, William Stead wrote of this crisis of Chicago in great detail in his book entitled If Christ Came to Chicago. And so, yes Bishops two titles in a boxed set on audible (ebook as well) moved me to deep thought about the crisis of Chicago in 1893 and today in 2020 with the pandemic that has hit the poorest and oldest among us the hardest, and yet we must always maintain hope and light.
