Excellent!
By Cinderella 7
A bit confusing with all the different characters and places, but exciting nonetheless. My heart goes out to Matthew and Devery.

I hate that Lydia is under so much suspicion and hope the next book solves the murders as well as sees the young couple finally able to get married.

I miss Karen’s time traveling and wish her husband would go with her. If he’s supposed to be the soul of her first husband, he should want to go with her to the Indians, I just don’t understand why he doesn’t.

I hate that I’m ready to read the last book of the series, I hate to see it end! I love this story very much!

“A cheeky take on a foul-mouthed British detective exiled to a Canadian metropolis” – “Holmes In America: A Sherlock/Holmes mystery #1” (Sherlock/Holmes Mysteries) by Karen Vaughan

A cheeky take on a foul-mouthed British detective exiled to a Canadian metropolis
By SKY08
Can the Andrew Dice Clay of British detectives get in touch with his inner nice guy when banished to Toronto? One can only hope the renowned politeness of his new Canadian colleagues rubs off on him and quick once this defective detective opens his mouth to speak. The stream of inappropriate epithets is jarring, to say the least. It’s no wonder he was exiled to [North] America by his Manchester superiors. Nigel Holme’s is loathsome and, oh yes, he also let a serial killer escape after the man killed the woman he loved. Derilection of duty left him damaged personally and professionally. Needless to say, his new compatriots are not that thrilled to meet Nigel. He and his new partner, Kristen Sherlock [yes, Sherlock & Holmes] don’t hit it off, but she deploys her niceness to correct and control the out of control Brit. Kristen’s got trouble of her own, though. Not all Canadian police officers are nice, and there’s an especially nasty one who has it in for Kristen. Why? Well, that’s part of what this ‘whydunit’ is about. Can Sherlock avoid becoming a victim of her vicious colleague’s wrath? Can Holmes shed his barbarous ways so that he’s a suitable colleague and partner for anyone, anywhere? You’ll have to read Holmes in America to find out–tongue planted firmly in cheek.

A cute, cozy whodunit.
By SNOOPYREVIEWER
The presence of Carter, Cat, and Nola is having a profound effect on Detrick Bittmore in a positive way. The author has softened the once crotchety and rather crooked attorney.
Once again we are treated to a novella that is full of romance, humor and a bit of action. I could not put this book down and enjoyed every word. This is another five-star read!

There was an old woman who lived in a shoe;
She had so many children, she didn’t know what to do.
She fed them all broth without any bread;
Then whipped them all soundly and sent them to bed.
~Mother Goose, The Dorling Kindersley Book of Nursery Rhymes (2000)
She took them from the woods, and she took them from dells, from hamlets and homesteads and across the wide world, she found young orphans, those abandoned and left on their own, and gave them a home.
And all she asked for was a little piece of their soul in payment…
Whoever said nursery rhymes were harmless?

“I loved this book!” – “Blood Master” (Book 1 of the G.O.D.S Series) by Kirsten Campbell

5-star reviewI loved this book
By Lorraine
‘I loved this book!
The story started slowly setting the scene and filling in some background but soon shifted up a gear with some great action and a number of surprising twists.
The characters were well-developed and, for the most part, likable.
The romance between Tassta and Griffin was tasteful and didn’t overwhelm the story.
The author has created a fascinating and realistic world of the future, with vivid descriptions of the Brotherhood’s fortress and the Underground.

I can’t wait to see what happens next for Griffin and all.

Intense and heartfelt
By Hellen
This is an intense book of poetry. The author opens op and shows you a glimpse of her past self, working towards her present self. She tells of abuse and sorrow, but also of love and joy, not to forget the appreciation for the seasons. The poem “Peter” brought tears to my eyes.

“Mystery at it’s best!” – “Murder in Humboldt” (Carson Reno Mystery Series, Book 1) by Gerald W. Darnell

Murder in humboldt.jpgSet in the sixties, Carson Reno is the owner of the Drake Detective Agency in Memphis. When asked to investigate what might be infidelity by a wife who thinks she is hiring a stranger, he ends up implicated in the murder of JR Maxwell in his own hometown. Two thugs (Bubba and Bobby) try to convince him to keep his distance while the police chief insists he return to Humboldt to answer some questions. Of course, there are some lovely ladies to provide some distraction, as well as Carson’s friends at Chiefs and the Starlight to provide support and libation. The union shut down at the textile mill, the trucks not allowed to leave, and the questionable meetings of JR, especially with General Samson and Judy Strong, give the story added dimension.
Having come of age in the sixties, the classic cars and social norms depicted by Darnell held a touch of nostalgia. The characters seemed to fit the times. The plot was easy to follow, but JR’s murderer and the motive weren’t obvious until the end. Fans of Perry Mason, Mike Hammer, Donald Lam and others from that era will like Carson Reno for sure. This is the first in the Carson Reno series, the 12th (Justifiable Homicide) was published in October 2014.

Mystery at it’s best
By Michael G.
If you’re from a small town, you know how politics and personal relationship have a huge influence over life and/or death in the community. Murder is seldom experienced in small towns and when it happens, the world is turned totally upside down. Murder in Humboldt is exciting, never know who “done it” until the end mystery novel. Well written and enjoyable. Can’t wait till the next issue is available.

A complex plot, sprinkled with romance and loaded with southern charm!
By Wayne A. D. Kerr
I received a copy of ‘The Long Road Home’ in exchange for an honest review. Someone wants Kate McClellan dead. There are plenty of suspects: her ex-fiancé, a half-brother she didn’t know of, a family enemy with ties to terrorism, and closer to home, her recently deceased father’s business partners. This book is rich in detail, with twists and turns starting on the first page and continuing throughout.

A complex plot, sprinkled with romance and loaded with southern charm, this book is an entertaining read.

Commander in Chief, gone mad!

by High Flyin’

This gripping short story will have readers intrigued right from the start. A tale of a president with his own nefarious agenda, and those close to him who are in wittingly sucked into his mad plan. In true Bussa style, you won’t connect all the dots until the very last paragraph.

“AMAZING- LOVED every minute of this book!” – “Eve of Destruction” (Soldiers of Destruction Series, Book 1) by E. Kay Sims

e kay eve of destruction 3

#EKsSpecialOps
I’m Capt. Eve Stone and I’m a cyborg. I woke up in a top-secret lab with no memory of my past, except that I was once human. They erased my memory, more than once. I’m more machine than human now, but once my sleep cycle begins, my memories from my human life return, and so do those of a man with stormy silver eyes. He haunts my dreams, and something in me knows he’s the key to my human identity. I need to remember…
I’m SSgt Wyatt Powell, former USAF Military Training Instructor at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, TX. I met and fell in love with Airman Katica Hajek nineteen years ago. A relationship between us was against the rules. But she agreed to explore our explosive relationship anyway. I thought I lost her, but now I am not so sure.
Eve of Destruction is Book One of the Soldiers of Destruction Series and ends on a cliffhanger.
