A Truly Suspenseful Ride

I was given a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review of The Long Road Home. Kate, after confirming that her fiance is a dastardly cheat, finds herself in quite a predicament. She breaks off the engagement, and all hell breaks loose. Little did she know that her fiance had ties to all kinds of low life criminals – and now they are after her and her estate. While the story itself is a real roller coaster ride, the author still manages to slow things down long enough to take in the scenes of the Charleston area and the Florida coast. I thoroughly enjoyed this book from beginning to end, it is a suspenseful ride that I highly suggest you climb aboard immediately.
Excellent job Carolyn – I look forward to all of your future novels.

I adored this book!
I loved Nate!! This book was so good. I couldn’t put it down. If only I didn’t have a one-year-old desperately crying for attention!! Where to start on this book? I had never read a book dealing with this topic. And to be honest, I knew going in more or less what the big reveal was gonna be, but it still came as a surprise. I thank Trish for that because she’s amazing.
Nate made me feel so many emotions. It was weird because even though I’m not going through his journey, his insecurities were so real. I felt them. And it made me remember insecurities I had. But also feel lucky I didn’t have to struggle as much as he did. Then I was furious Nate had to struggle. And he was so much stronger for that. I felt sad and angry thinking about Nate growing up. And how hard it must’ve been for him.
But I gotta say, Natalie was just… PERFECT. I love books like this. I already feel the sadness and depression imagining how things must’ve been, and I have a wild imagination. Natalie, the protagonist, made the story perfect. Because you just want everything to not just work out, but for it to be worth the sad moments you’re put through. And the payoff was definitely good. I was left extremely satisfied and in love with Nate, and then Nate and Natalie.
I also really liked the balance in the story. We get Nate and his story, pieces of his journey and his thoughts, we get to see his life, and then we also get the romance. And I loved that one didn’t overpower the other and I was able to enjoy everything. Since it was a different type of story for me, I’m glad I had questions answered.
I definitely recommend this read. It is just so good. It’s different, it’s fresh, it’s emotional, and it made me feel good.

I read… A LOT and I must say this quiet, seemingly unassuming little tale turned out to be one of the most emotionally engaging stories that I have read in a very long time. I honestly wish that I could give this story more than 5 Stars.
A tale about two wounded souls brought together and redeemed through the clan’s Alpha exercising His Prerogative! Samuel is my kind of Alpha Male shifter hero! He’s disliked and feared by his own people, but he doesn’t let that deter him from his ultimate goal; doing what’s best for his band of shifters. And yet, he’s clever enough to find a way to protect the most vulnerable while still getting his heart’s desire. Wild Rose is an amazing character, and I adored the way she grew into her role as Den Mother to the clan, healed Samuel and continued to grow as a woman. The growth (individually & and as a couple) that we see in this book was pure joy to read!
The connection between Samuel and Rose sizzles! The huge cast of characters are well developed and make the reader want to know more about them. In fact, my only complaint about this story, I’d like to know more about what went before.
