A HOT 5 STAR STORY FROM A 5 STAR AUTHOR

I began this journey with no map or compass allowing the author to take my hand and guide me through her fantastic world….page after page I was enthralled with the story and lost track with the hours as I had to read just one more chapter…

This is fantastic work from an equally if not superb author who deserves all the rave reviews she has received for this book.

Fully deserves the 5 stars for an equally 5-star author (though if it was up to me, I would give her a million stars)

A fantastic new series from Karen Vaughan!

I love this new series, “Holmes in America” by Karen Vaughan. The book contains the marvelous humor Vaughan puts in all her books as a great comic relief.
Her characters are believable and easy to relate to.
I highly recommend “Holmes in America” A Sherlock/Holmes mystery #1 for a fantastic read!

A wonderful fantasy wrapped in an exciting story!!

I absolutely loved this book!! I won a copy of this book in a contest. As a dragon lover I had to read this book. But as I got started I knew this was a much bigger story than just about a dragon. Arak is a dragon with an usual gift who has been teased by bullies most of his life. He befriends Scree, a lovely octopus who also is a healer for her clan. The friendship these two develop is one we all dream of having. Added into the mix is Arak’s awakening when he realizes that he loves his lifelong friend Zarina. The author does an amazing job bringing the story to life so much that I can picture the beauty that surrounds them. I really would like to see this made into a movie. The life lessons taught in this book are ones that everyone should know and possibly get a refresher course for. I’m no stranger to snowflakes but the ones described in this book in vivid detail makes me want to catch one and examine it under a microscope just to witness the beauty. I can see where this book would appeal to school-age kids as I have my daughter now reading it; plus she is also reading it to the patients at a nursing home she volunteers at. They are loving it and always eager to know what is going to happen next!! Kudus to this author for building this magical world and reeling us all in for the ride of a lifetime!!Line video

Author Darnell pulled me right in from the prologue and made me sit in the lobby of The Peabody Hotel.

This was my first Carson Reno detective novel, and I’m now a fan. A detective story that weaves its way through magnificently described settings; Memphis, Tennessee, in the 1960’s, and characters that come to life, in front of you. Darnell’s ability to described and develop his cast of players is marvelous. I got to know his main character, Carson Reno, as he, in the first person, tells the story, and lets me know his feelings and thoughts, in his own irreverent way. From the prologue, I felt as if, Author Darnell, had pulled me in by my shirt collar, into The Peabody Hotel’s lobby, where Carson has his detective office, next to the Down Under Bar. I didn’t have to guess what the characters looked like, no, I could see all of them, their quirks and mannerisms. The murder plot (or murders), is very intriguing, twist and turns, clues everywhere, multiple suspects— that make the amateur detective in all of us, ‘sleuth’ our way through the book. If you enjoy a detective –whodunit novel, you’ll enjoy this one. “Another Jack Daniels and Coke please, Andy,” said Reno.

Hold on for an intense ride.

This book grabbed my attention from the first page and time flew by until I reached the final page (so sad that I have to wait DAYS for the next book). I loved the pace of the writing, the detailed (but not too much detail) military terms and the character development.

I did not read anything about the book, so I was expecting your typical military romance. It was so much more. I love the sci fi elements and the depth of the experiences of the characters. I am sad that it ended on a cliff hanger so if you hate those, wait to start until the 2nd book comes out on the 31st.

I highly recommend if you are open to reading darker content, but not so much drama to bring you down. It is not for the faint of heart.

Another great read from this author! Outstanding follow-up to book one with a great flow of action and continued character development; once you start reading you can’t stop. Looking forward to book three and the movie that needs to come from E Kay Sims work – just has to happen – I’ll be the first one in line to buy a ticket..

Bear’s Shadow (Vendetta Series Book 2)

Another excellent book in this series. With intrigue, suspense and romance the author demonstrates her ability to get inside the head of her characters and bring them to life for the reader. Whilst this book felt a little rushed at the end compared to the first one it in no way detracted from the story nor left you with unanswered questions hence the full marks for the book.

The book, although part of a series, is completely stand alone; the benefit of reading the first book is being more familiar with the characters and community allowing yourself to seep further into the storyline, so personally I would recommend you read book 1 – if not before this one then certainly afterward!!

The author handled marital and sex abuse delicately; in no way glamorizing it or adding it to the story for effect. The fact that this happened and the strength shown to overcome and move forward had you rooting for the female lead. The book is certainly darker than book 1, but it works. Once again the book showed how communities come together to support those in need and deal justice to the injustices seen in the world.

Mystery, Action, Surprises, Romance and Richard and Nicole, sort of, what more could you want?

This story may not have Richard and Nicole per say in it, but they are defiantly there. Neeka and Braedon is the spitting image of Richard and Nicole. This was an exciting romantic read with lots of surprises and action in it. The storyline was fantastic!
Belterra is a planet divided. Each section has a leader and their own village of followers. Each group has their own beliefs and laws to follow. You stay within your clan. This has been going on for centuries.
But Neeka, the Lord Daughter of the Warrior Clan, loves Braedon, Lord of the Soldier Clan. Braedon comes and sweeps Neeka off her feet and takes her back to his land to live with him. Neeka, a medicine woman, wins over the Soldier Clan and is welcomed.
The Science Lord, Seth, hates all the clans and wants to rid the planet of them and run the planet as he sees fit. He kidnaps Neeka and makes her a slave to him and puts the royal guards in cells to starve. Braedon and the rest of his men rescue them and leave baby Ana with her Father Seth and Braendon’s Mother Betta to raise her.
Neeka and Braendon have more than their share of problems together as a couple. They are both pig-headed and have their owns ways. They seem to always find their way back to each other, just like Richard and Nicole.
Full of mystery, suspense, and action, you will have many, many surprises along the way. My mouth was left open many times throughout the book. Carol Ann Kauffman is an amazing writer!
