I’ve only recently become a reader of indie authors, my reading was usually king or koontz, topped up with a bit of Coban. Angela Gascoigne is yet another extremely talented author that I have happened to come across. It starts with Rosie running away from her boyfriend armed with only her cat. What follows is something endearing and delightful, as she meets the cat allergic Danny. The characters are very believable, the story goes at a good place and urges you to read on. To say I love this book is putting it mildly. Very rarely does a book pull me in so completely. I found myself reading it slowly. I savored it, enjoyed it, and did not want to rush through, and yet toward the end I could not put it down and I stayed up way past my bedtime to get to the climatic ending.

The use of dialect was very well done. The character development was exceptional and the author lead me down quite a path as I watched Rhona change from a young person I disliked to a mature woman I admired. My favorite character was the twisted laird himself, Edan. He was a brave and honest man of honor, who did whatever he had to do to take care of his tightly knit little clan. His goals and…

AFAMILYTHISXMASBLURB.jpg519kXy5EseL._SY346_I have been very much enjoying this series of stand alone novellas & short stories. This was no exception. The characters are likeable and misunderstandings relatable. I would love to see Jackson & Ellens story as well.

I have just one recommendation, the names of the characters through the stories are duplicated without relation. I in have now seen Jack, Jackson, O’Reilly and others used multiple times. While the names are good ones, there really are many others to choose from and as a reader, I get confused with the other stories especially when there is no connection between stories. I am someone who, if I really like a story, will remember and read again. The characters names are important in remembering which I am looking for. After all, if a reader connects the way a writer wants, the name becomes a person not just a name.

I love this book. I am not typically satisfied with novellas, but this one was lovely. The words wrapped me in warmth and I felt as if I was there. It was more than a series of stories, but a homecoming. If you are looking for something to restore you, this is the book.
