Romance, Aliens and a Fantastic Story Line!
I love how Carol Ann Kauffman writes her stories. Sea Witch is not a part of the Time After Time series, but it sure could be. She wrote the Sea Witch the same way, love, and romance like no others. That feeling of they knew each other before, even though they didn’t. The excitement of finding true love and being together. The way the characters intertwined, the loss of one of them, only to be found again. Awwwwwe! True Love!
Dr. Laura Martin is the Chief Exraterrestrial Life Scientist at The Touchstone Institute of Oceanographic Research. Dr. Martin is looking for a research assistant. She interviewed a few ladies and next was a man. She didn’t want a man, she got along better with women. But her colleague told her to give him a chance.
Dr. Benjamin Scott Conner is up next for the interview and is excited beyond means. He has admired Dr. Martin for a very long time and it’s his dream to work with her, be next to her, love her and just have her in his arms. Well, he didn’t have a chance. She already had him kicked to the curb in her mind, but he talked her into giving him a 2-week chance, unpaid. She basically had no choice. Scott, that’s what everyone calls him, was very over-qualified and she asked to make him something more along the line of his degrees.
Now Dr. Martin has an alien woman in a holding tank for 20 years and has made a friendship with her. But when she sees Scott, the alien goes nuts screaming that he is her mate. He has no idea what she is talking about. Zara, the name given to the alien, becomes very hostile and has to be calmed with medication. Lara and Scott try to figure out what is going on and by talking about Scott’s background, Lara has an idea of how he is connected to Zara. To find out, they have to go to his Mother’s home in France. This is where you hold on to the edge of your seat and hold your breath.
Sea Witch is a Romance with SciFi and mystery added in. What a great combination! I was trying to figure it all out along the way and was surprised, very surprised to say the least in the last few chapters. The ending was all science fiction and wrapped tightly with romance. What a captivating storyline! This author gas amazing talent!

Being born blind, Ken has always lived a sheltered life, thanks to his overprotective mother and older sisters. If it wasn’t for his best friend, Stone, he’d never have any kind of freedom, let alone a life. Twenty-one years old and still living at home, Ken is ready to be independent. When he moves into his own apartment and meets his new neighbor, Cassandra, he knows he’s made the right decision. Ken wants Cassandra, and the feeling seems to be mutual, but he’s worried. Can she accept that he can be everything she needs, or will she let his blindness keep her from taking a chance?

Wonderful book in a wonderful series! Must buy! You will fall in love with these characters
Trish Edmisten’s New Beginnings series is my absolute favorite and was looking forward to this to be released ever since I read the preview for Ken’s story and saw him in other books. I preordered it the second it went up and was beyond excited to see it in my library this morning.
THIS BOOK AND THIS SERIES. I love them so much. They’re so realistic and the dialogue feels authentic and natural and every conversation they have isn’t some poetic monologue. The interpersonal relationships are so REAL and wonderful. And the characters are honest and insightful and I want to be their friends/feel like I am.
I’ve been SO excited for Stone’s story since I started the series and this book made me even more excited and fall more in love with Joss.
Love Cassandra and Ken’s story ❤ Now it’s time to reread the first three and then reread this one!!
The only thing i dislike about this series is the cover-art. I almost passed by this series because of it, I’m such a “judge a book by it’s cover” person but I’m so glad I got pulled in by the book descriptions because this series is SO GOOOOOD

THIS SHOULD BE A MOVIE – BEST READ OF THE YEAR
How does one put into words the depth that a book took them into? Ms. Rankin’s Viral Storm (book 2) left me with feeling an enormous desire for the rest of the story. I could not put it down, it felt as if I was walking beside each of the characters as the story unfolded around me.
After listening to Book 1, Viral Dawn, I could hardly wait for book 2 and pre-ordered it. Although my (to be read list is long,} Viral Dawn had me in its sway and I put Viral Storm first on my list as soon as it became available.
I was not disappointed, from the first page, it kept me enthralled, weeping for Haley’s predicament and praying for Casey, Kyle, Jordan, and Verna to escape and find a way to save the world from the man-made virus that was let loose on the public by the evilness of the desire to control all things.
I could not put Viral Storm down until the last page of the book, even though it was the middle of the night and I knew it would make the next day more difficult for me. It is and was a thrilling read, my only regret is that I finished it and that I must wait till next year for its sequel.
Viral Dawn and Viral Storm are labeled as YA books, but for me, the characters were ageless, the story terrific, the plot deep, and it is a series that I will reread through the years, even though I am not a zombie fan as such, I have put it on my list of best reads of the month.
This series should be a movie or a TV series, it is that good.
Thank you, Ms. Rankin, for writing this series.

The end of the world is coming, or so they say, and that puts Bailey Dewitt on a crash course with Armageddon. Orphaned, she and her young brothers find themselves living with their renegade uncle as part of a group of survivalists. She struggles against them, searching for a way to escape, but every discovery only terrifies her more.
For Caleb Cross, the Ranch is a way of life. The members of their group are family, and none should come between them. Smitten from the moment he met Bailey, his choices are no longer easy, his path no longer clear. He wants to welcome her and the twins into their fold and hopes his kin will agree.
But the elders who lead them aren’t interested in the troublesome girl. They are plotting for the time they will be rid of her and expect Caleb to go along with their plans – he is after all one of them.
At first, Bailey resists Caleb’s charms but soon must admit that she desperately needs a friend. She has no intention of anything more, but when the elders make their move, she is forced to trust him with her very life.
They both have hard lessons to learn. Relationships built on secrets and lies don’t come with guarantees. When the world falls apart around them, some things are Irrevocable.

Another wild ride from Samantha Jacobey
Almost seventeen Bailey learns that her parents have died in a car crash on their wedding anniversary. If that’s not bad enough she and her young twin brothers are put in the care of an absent uncle with some baggage. The next thing she knows she is taken to a small city in the middle of TEXAS! (As a Yankee that alone would be enough to make me slit my wrists. 😉
They settle in for a few months and then the reality of her new life changes again. Bailey is a privileged self-proclaimed good girl but acts out hoping to return to her home. She is smart and intuitive but nothing in her life has prepared her for what’s coming. Without giving away the whole book suffice it to say she needs all her social skills to survive and that may not be enough. She needs to get tough and fast.
I’ve read several of Ms. Jacobey’s books and again she makes you care about the characters and has a well-developed plotline. Reading this book was like eating peanuts and it went by too fast. Will Bailey figure out how to survive? What will happen to her brothers? Can she learn to be bad enough to make it through the ordeal? Does she and Caleb fall into each other’s arms? This book does not answer those questions but it does set the reader up for the next two books in the series coming out this summer. Myself I cannot wait to see how this plays out. Buy the book and take the ride.
