More Fascinating Twists

Book Four in the series and it continues to be engrossing, in fact, I read this one in just a couple of hours as I find myself so caught up in Tori’s tale.

I appreciate more fully the nicer side I mentioned in my review of book three, as book four brings about events that force Tori to revisit her ugly past. I have repeatedly stated that this series is for mature, over 18 audiences only for the explicit violence and sexual situations, and that is extremely true in this volume as well.

I do not include spoilers in my reviews, which becomes more difficult the deeper I get into the series. I would generally assume that anyone reading a review of book four in a series was already familiar with the first three, but I still would like to protect the entire series as much as possible. This volume brings several plot twists, including huge reveals on two major subplots that have left me very curious from book one. I mentioned this one brought more difficult situations than book three, but still not as intense as in the first two. This certainly brings new sides of Tori’s struggles, strengths, and weaknesses to light. It will be very interesting to jump into book five (as soon as I finish this review) to see how she brings the conflicting emotions together, and if there will be retribution for ends left untied. Though I have given five stars to every book in the series so far, I will admit that it took me a while to really hit my stride with it. I am definitely fully in now and don’t see much slowdown until I have finished the last word of book seven.

My Favorite, So Far

This is how good the author is – she got me to read all three books (thus far) in a day and a half because I ended up staying up late late late to get as far as I could. This third in the series is my favorite, so far. It was really good to relax a bit with the heroine as she continues to grow and learn how to function in a world she knew nothing about. She is wise in so many ways and still innocent in others as she goes about setting up her *normal* life.

She hooks up with the hero (in this book) and here is the author’s gifting – about halfway through, you begin to feel your heart start to pound a little faster in anticipation because you KNOW the other shoe is about to drop. Nothing tells you that as you live with the heroine’s day-to-day activities but the author has written in “looming doom” without you even realizing it. As you’re reading along, you are actually waiting… waiting… because it is coming. You know it. It “almost” ruins the story because you want to skip ahead and see what happens so you can calm down and enjoy the story – but you don’t. You force yourself to take it one page at a time.

Sure there is another stinking cliffhanger. And sure it makes you go “grrr” because you have invested so much time in this amazing story, but if you are like me, you will tell yourself that you are willing to wait until JUNE for the 4th book. I don’t wanna wait, but unfortunately, I HAVE TO KNOW what is going to happen. Maybe I will wait until the entire series is written because it IS hard to read one book every few months hoping nothing happens to stop the continuation of the story.

Yep, obviously, the author hooked me, for sure.

The series only gets better

Bound is the second book in the “A New Life Series” by Samantha Jacobey.

Tori has been sent to LA to spend six months in a halfway house and to learn to live a normal life. Throughout this book, she recalls her life with the dragon and struggles to be with people.

You really feel for her as Tori try’s to fit into a normal life, and through her mentors gain skills we take for granted

She still doesn’t want to get close to people for she fears they will get hurt because of her.

Ghost from Tori’s past comes back to haunt her, and her fears for being found have come true. So what can she do? The only thing she can do is run…

Though Bound is not as dark and heart wrenching as book 1, you are still captivated by Tori’s story and eagerly read on to see where it will all lead to.

Samantha Jacobey has been a mastermind to write this story, has managed to captivate interest throughout.

This is definitely a 5-star book, and I look forward to reading the rest of the “A New Life” series.

An Amazing story of survival, not for the squeamish.

When I first heard about the series, I gave consideration to what “Life of Recovery” or “A New Life” could mean… drug addiction, alcoholism, sex addiction, etc. But I was wrong, and I’m glad I went on to read this book. This is an amazing story of survival about a girl raised by a motorcycle gang that takes on dangerous jobs to make money. They raise Tori and groom her to take her “place” on the road with the men, but her place is not where she wants to be because as soon as she comes of age, the guys begin using her for their own pleasure. It is disgusting what they do to her. Tori’s account of what she went through at the hand of the Dragons is brutal and vivid. You can easily visualize her torture and feel how she dealt with the pain. Once you start reading, it’s impossible to put down. You really find yourself rooting for Tori to get through, even though they make her do some truly heinous jobs. When she decides to strike back, you completely understand why she did the things she did. Tori never seems to want people to feel sorry for her, despite what she was subjected to. As she recounts her story to a friendly FBI agent, you realize she did what she had to do to survive. You might feel some sympathy for her, but mostly, you’ll see her strength, despite her naivety with basic social interaction. This book is not for the faint-of-heart. The vivid imagery will leave you squeamish, but unable to stop reading.

Loving Karma!

This is part of the Summer Spirit Novellas and needs to be read in order.

As Charlie continues to work with Karma, he begins to learn who he can trust and who he can’t as both friend and foe begin to return and he questions which side he is really on.

Wow – still so many things coming that I am not sure who is good and who isn’t. There is still so much at play, and I am left wondering what is going to happen as there are so many different possibilities!

This is a great series, and I love the whole idea on whose side Karma is really on.

Wow – this was not was I was expecting! It is so funny how we use the term “Karma’s a b*tch” when something happens but then Ms.Jacobey writes a book about it, and it is so great to see the truth behind it.

I’ve always had such a soft spot for Charlie and the fact that he honestly cares and that is why he is in the situation he is in. Yet when he chooses working for Karma over jail, he has no idea what he is getting into.

I loved meeting all the other “forgotten angels,” and I can’t wait to see what happens between everyone. There is so much potential for so many things to happen and tons of tension!
