A FABULOUS READ FOR PEOPLE WHO LOVE DISTOPIAN NOVELS-THE CITY:THE JANE HARVEST A. NICKY HJORT

ANHCITYJANEHARVESTBLURB

Winning battles means Ink honors, prestige, and life itself. …Yet nobody understands what losing truly means.

On another planet two hundred years in the future, twenty-one-year-old Isla Jane struggles helplessly to figure out who she is and what her world really means. Marked with a forbidden tattoo of the rising sun, she is a natural champion of humanity and a gifted warrior in Heats– lavish battles fought in the conjoined minds of the participants for the morbid amusement of the masses.

Despite Isla’s desire to fade into the background, she emerges as an obvious leader of her people when the senseless assassination of a youth forces her to face the truth. Her volatile world, disguised by its elaborate battles and constant mayhem, is a prison without bars and a coffin, the lid already half-closed, that they must escape.

But when she vows to find a way to bring her people back home, Isla will have to deconstruct consciousness and the very nature of the space time continuum to unravel good from evil, truth from lies, and survival from true love.

Welcome to the City–where it takes lives to save lives…

A psychic medium once said that if you find a random dime, it is a sign that someone that you have loved and lost is thinking of you. A DIME IS A SIGN –SHERRILL S. CANNON

a dime is a signA psychic medium once said that if you find a random dime, it is a sign that someone that you have loved and lost is thinking of you.

A Dime is a Sign Through Time

If you find a dime,

You will know that I’m

Sending thoughts of love

Through the veil of time.

Ten cents with a silver shine,

A sense sent you to help remind

That someone who left you behind

Is always living in your mind.

Sending love and vibes,

Felt as psychic sighs …

The ones that you miss,

Send you a kiss …

Sherrill S. Cannon’s second book of poetry contains messages written through the years in poetic form that put feelings into words. As a teacher, many of her poems helped counsel troubled teens and friends.

There are three sections in the book: Heads, Spinning, and Tails … (Love & Loss: Coin Toss?). The variety of lyrical poetry forms include free verse, blank verse, haiku, and sonnets, while some are just playing with words!

Hopefully, this is also a book of healing.

Sherrill S. Cannon, a former teacher and grandmother of ten, is the author of nine acclaimed rhymed children’s books, plus a recent award-winning book of poetry (A Penny for Your Thoughts), which together have received 63 national and international book awards since 2011. She also wrote seven published plays for elementary school children that have been performed in over 25 countries. Most of her children’s books emphasize consideration for others. Married for 58 years, she and her spouse are now retired, live in Pennsylvania, and travel in their RV from coast to coast, spending time with their children and grandchildren, and sharing her books along the way!

downloadEnvelop yourself in the tenderly flowing words of romantic poetry in the unforgettably lyrical collection, A Dime Is A Sign: Poems of Love & Loss (Feelings Into Words) by Sherrill S. Cannon. Life is full of love and loss, but at times we experience our feelings and emotions so intensely, we can’t put them into words. Allow the soft fluidity of the gentle poetry to caress your soul and bring comfort to your mind as you read through the sublime sonnets, poems, haiku, blank verse, and free-flowing verses. Each poem is meant to help convey a moment of deep emotion, and speak straight to the soul to help you better process each unique stage of love you experience. The delicately soothing words invite you to float lightly among the author’s words and get lost in love.
A Dime Is A Sign: Poems of Love & Loss (Feelings Into Words) by Sherrill S. Cannon is a breathtaking book of romantic poetry. As a school teacher, wife of fifty-eight years, mother, and grandmother, Cannon has lived her words, writing them down throughout the years to help counsel teens and friends through love and heartache. Love and romance are beautiful, but loss can be tragically painful. We often ask ourselves, “Is it worth the pain to love?” The poems in this collection have answered with a resounding, “yes.” The words moved me. Every word of every line held beauty and meaning. The poetry is based on the different stages of love — from young, new love, to older forbidden love — and the verses in this book were written to speak to both young teens and older adults. 5 Stars – Reviewed By Alyssa Elmore for Readers’ Favorite

I was more than pleasantly surprised by how much I ended up loving this book. I don’t often read Middle Grade fantasy (or much Middle Grade at all, to be honest) so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. But I can confidently say that The Last Timekeepers is a series that will probably appeal to you no matter how old you are. It’s that perfect mix of real world humor and pure escapism into an alternate reality, plus there’s a good bit of historical fiction thrown in (which I always love).

The Last Timekeepers are made up of a fun cast of five kids and two adults who are thrown together due to circumstance and destiny. They are given the extremely important role of making sure that history unfolds as it should and that everything stays cool with the timeline. I love, love, LOVE time travel stories, so I was already well on board with this theme, but I found myself truly pulled into the story because of the wonderful way the characters were drawn. The story itself has a lot of funny parts to it and a lot of the dialogue is downright hilarious. I could totally see real kids talking to each other like this. I was also completely charmed by the two adults who accompany them. John, a brilliant archaeologist, and Melody, a good-witch type of character.

Overall this is just an awesome book and I’m really looking forward to diving into the rest of the series. I would recommend it to anyone who likes Middle Grade fiction, Middle Grade fantasy, or anything to do with time travel.

Not only do I enjoy reading children’s books to my youngest grand-children, I, myself, like reading them. And I love the illustrations.. I find the best books to be fun, clever and uplifting. And “The Busy Bus” is one of the most special ones I’ve read in a long time.

The 32 poems in this book cover an amazing range of things kids like to giggle about; from mean teachers to pink pigs, smelly socks to singing, flowers, fish and much more. I like that a single poem with a really cute illustration fits on a single page. Author Marsha Casper Cook planned her lay-out well, just as she did the topics of interest to children. She certainly knows a child’s mind.

My very favorite poem is the one about smelly socks; it made me giggle the most. And I really got a kick out of Isabella Pimpinella with her red umbrella. I could name many more, but you will have to read for yourself to truly enjoy this author’s talent.

I can’t wait to read this to little Maya or Christopher, but if they don’t visit soon, I’ll send a copy to their mothers so they can read to them.

This author has many children’s books on Amazon and since Isabella Pimpinella now has her own series, I already have “Isabella Pimpinella’s Magic Potion,”. I’m going to read that next. Looks like I’ll be on a kiddy-kick for a while trying to keep up with this precocious, lovable character.

Highly recommended…
