Super Fantastic!

My heart bleeds for the Indians! I wish I had lived in the time period when there were peaceful tribes and the white man stayed in their own backyard.

It shames me to be white, although I’m also Irish, German, and a tad of Indian. My husband is part Cherokee, he looks Indian. It is a horrible thing what the white men did, greed, and ignorance along with prejudices and thinking they were better than anyone else is what caused all the hatred and Indian wars.

I love these stories and can hardly wait for the fifth book! Please, Pamela when will it be out? Wonderful job with this series!

Sesame, an old woman in frail health, is trapped in the attic with no explanation. A woman and her two small girls live on the first floor, none of whom pay the old woman any mind. Though she tries calling out, banging on walls, and stomping on the floor, her cries for help go ignored.

Sesame spends her days writing letters about the strange happenings, to her sister, Eula, who left home decades ago. It becomes certain to everyone living in the house that there is a ghostly presence, firmly rooted among them; disturbing the peace and creating fears beyond reason. The house surely is haunted. Only the ending reveals by whom.

If I had more stars to give, this book would definitely get them.

I loved this story. I have read many by this author and have to say this is my favorite. When I read the afterword in the book as the author explained where the story came from, I so wished I had more stars to give. I know that place where this story was found and hope Michael Bussa finds many, many more there. In this well-crafted tale readers enter the mind of Sesame, an older woman stuck in the upstairs of a home while she wonders what is happening beneath her. What she thinks and feels is expressed in the letters she is writing to her sister Eula. The author twists this story just right and takes readers on a great ride. The feeling in this book is intense and readers can almost feel reality slip away as they become one with this story. Thanks to Michael Bussa who knows how a short story was made to be written

“Dinky: The Nurse Mare’s Foal” by Marta Moran Bishop – #CraftsHobbies&Home, #AnimalCare&Pets, #Horses

Animated GIF-downsized_large.gif

Line Blurb

Winnie Award Winner at the Equus Film Festival. Best Equine Rescue book.
Dinky: The Nurse Mare’s Foal is the story of one little foals fight for survival after being taken from his mother within hours of his birth. Dinky, takes us on a poignant trip through the heart and mind of an animal, who was born for the sole purpose of producing milk in the mare. In the elite world of horses, Dinky was considered a by-product, a ‘junk foal.’

Dinky’s story will resonate with animal lovers, as well as anyone who has adopted. Although a horse, his story has been called an adoption story. The reader can follow him through the heartbreak, cruelty, loneliness, and finally to happiness in his forever home. His story is based on true events. Each event from the moment the author met Dinky actually happened, though it is the author’s interpretation of what he might have been thinking and feeling during the occasions described in his story. His early life which is unknown has been fictionalized by the author and constructed through research and imagination.

There are many wonderful animal rescue leagues, many are very empathic to these young animals, though some are not. Since Ms. Bishop has no knowledge of Dinky’s early days, she used the latter to enhance the strength of his story.

It will break your heart, open your eyes, lift you up, and teach you much about horses. It is suitable for all ages.

A Poignant Book For All Ages

Dinky: The Nurse Mare’s Foal is a memoir told from the first person’s POV (point of view). What makes this memoir unlike any other is that the first person (narrator) is Dinky, a foal whose life begins as a seemingly insurmountable struggle. He survives mistreatment and continued disappointments during his early life.

He longs for the time he spent with his mother who adored him. But he was so young when he was taken from her, that he was confused and lonely. Additionally, he hadn’t learned all the lessons of life that would help him in the coming years. However, in their short time together mom infused her love into Dinky’s heart and mind while reassuring him that he was smarter than most horses and would grow up to be strong. Dinky’s strength would be tested throughout his young life particularly in the areas of learning the ways of a herd and to be able to trust people again.

Luckily for Dinky, a delightful couple named Ken and Marta recognized his beauty..inside and out, adopted him and taught him what it felt like to be nurtured and loved. As Dinky stated, “They even learned how to speak horse.” Dinky is both a story of loss as well as a lesson on the power of love to heal.

It is rare that an author can write in the first person and make it feel totally authentic. Author Marta Moran Bishop masters this task brilliantly. A reader of any age who loves and respects animals of all kinds will be deeply touched by this book.

Falling in love with his partner’s little sister was never part of the plan.
There was an order to James Marsden’s future: get a job as an Indianapolis cop, work his way up to detective, and then find a nice girl and start a family. He never planned on walking into a diner his first day as a rookie copy and for her to blow his entire timeline to smithereens.
When Marie Griffen’s older brother Steve introduced her to his new trainee, she was instantly drawn to his shy demeanor and blushing face. Only, she couldn’t act on her feelings even if she wanted to. Steve wanted her to date someone with a normal job – that wasn’t his partner. Marie just wanted to live her own life without her older brother watching over her.
Marie and James must decide if this off-limits romance is worth the risk or if the consequences are too much for either of them to bear.

Will they be able to overcome the misunderstandings and be happy together? Or are the consequences too much for …

This is an extremely quick read.
James is a rookie cop working with Steve, Marie’s brother.
When they go to dinner where Marie works, James instantly becomes interested in her, but is warned by Steve to stay away from her.
Marie also feels an attraction for James, but after some misunderstandings, she thinks that the feeling is not reciprocal.
James starts to avoid her and his behavior sort of gets out of control to try to forget her.
Will they be able to overcome the misunderstandings and be happy together? Or are the consequences too much for them to bear?
This is a very interesting story, but the events are very fast. I think it could have been more explored.
I recommend the reading.

I have been searching and coming up empty on this type of book. I love IR romances but I also love paranormal and apocalyptic type books book I could never find one until now. This book had all the elements I was looking for and more. I loved the power our main hero Griffin had it was excellent and his love interest tassta was strong yet vulnerable for her feelings for him. Together they were truly loveable and sweet. This author did an excellent job of painting an apocalyptic world were to survive you had to be resourceful yet compassionate to others cannot wait until the next book.

Fantastic dark fantasy
I’ve been in reading slump for a few months when I spied a post from Kevin about a different series. He was very kind telling me about Winters of Alnora.
I had previously read 3 of the Rosinanti series( books 1, 1.5 and 2). So I had a feel for the writing style of the author.
As a dark fantasy, expect dark themes throughout.
Kevin made it so easy to empathize with Alnora right from the opening lines. He can transport you to this world, I totally immersed myself in the story, when you actually feel cold just from the words you read, that is a job well done by the author.
This is a short story, it made passing time through a storm fly by.
I highly recommend Kevin’s books to any and all fantasy lovers. He puts a fresh spin on his books in a difficult genre to carve a path in.
I don’t know if there will be any more books in this series, but I would very much welcome more.
Fantastic job Kevin J. Kessler.
Now, I have another Rosinanti book to get into. Grab these books, I am so very happy to have found them.

Stand-up comic Dave Feener has a great rapport with his audience, so when his body is found maliciously stabbed a short distance away from The Laff Attak where he’s just performed, there seems to be no real motive for the brutal murder. A serial killer who does not think local comics are funny has just begun his rampage.
Constables Mike Borneo and Lissa Cassway along with detective Vince Vetters are racing to find the killer before he claims another victim. Was Feener just in the wrong place at the wrong time? Left with his wedding ring and his wallet, Feener’s body isn’t even cold when the killer strikes again-this time stabbing Phil Vetters, a comic known for his redneck shtick and the brother of detective Vince Vetters. Just as Vince vows revenge, the killer makes a fateful mistake when he stabs another comic and does not ensure his victim is dead before he leaves the crime scene.

The killer is a sicko, but not an idiot. He’s right under everyone’s noses, and the anticipation of a righteous kill is all just part of the fun. Only time will tell if the killer will have the last laugh.

You’ll Die Laughing!

Someone’s lost his sense of humor, and it’s gonna be murder! A serial killer is stalking the comedians of Edmonton, seeming to choose his victims based on the fact he doesn’t share their sense of humor.

Dave Feener, the first comic to die, is at the top of his game, but when he’s stabbed, the killer tells him, “You just ain’t funny!” Nothing like a little constructive criticism!

Comedienne Shelly has a comeback for everything. When a customer heckles her, she gives back as good as she gets. She’s got a great routine, her comic star is rising. As the death count mounts, she begins to wonder what’s wrong with the guy. Nervous, but not terrified, she continues working on her routines for Comic F/X. Soon, she finds herself falling for her boss, Jeff.

Jeff used to be a standup comic but gave it up in lieu of starting his own club. He and his counterpart at the other comedy club, Laff Attack, have a friendly rivalry to see who can get the biggest crowd and the best comics. Unfortunately, both of them are losing their people as the serial killer continues.

Constables Lissa Cassway and Mike Borneo are investigating the murders. Despite their best efforts, the comic killer manages to kill, again and again, making them wonder how he’s managing to stay ahead of them. Will the tide turn in their favor? Or will the killer continue his deadly spree?

Karen Vaughan’s novel, “Dead Comic Standing,” is a wonderful look into the world of stand-up comedy. She mixes in funny comedic routines with the serious business of police work. Her characters sparkle, the story moves at a good pace as she builds to the climax of her tale.

I highly recommend “Dead Comic Standing” for anyone who likes a good mystery–or even a good joke.

The Dragon Dreamer by J.S. Burke

The Dragon Dreamer by J. S. Burke is definitely not your typical dragon story. As I began to read, I was confused about how a dragon and an octopus could become friends and communicate at all. The storyline is very creative and original, a fantasy with heart, courage, love, friendship and great imagery. A beautiful story is woven with legends and wonderful storytelling, layered with stories of how they became the creatures/beings they are today. I did not want to put it down.
Arak is a young dragon who feels different from the rest of his clan, has been teased for his unique gifts and treated poorly by his brother. I think this relates to bullying and the problems our youth suffer through today. Arak is a wonderful character whom you cheer for and wish him only good things. He has feelings for Zarina, his best friend and this is another layer to the story.
Through an ice storm, Arak is injured and first meets Scree, a wise and open-minded octopus, and the healer for her pod. They learn to communicate with body and sign language and become friends while Arak heals. Scree is very courageous and forward thinking. Once Arak is healed they go on to convince his clan and her pod to interact, trade goods, exchange stories, and learn about each other’s culture. The pod, clan, and individuals of each experience various issues and challenges during the story and they have wonderful adventures together. This book is very well written and really sucks you in. It leaves you with a smile, good feelings and wanting more.
The author is a marine biologist, teacher, and writer. The story includes actual characteristics of Octopi and other creatures of the ocean. Her love of sea life is very obvious and teaches the reader as she entertains us. She creates a wonderful and seemingly realistic world where dragons exist and their culture more like a true telling of history than fiction. I highly recommend this book to other adults and children. I cannot wait to read the next book and see where Arak and Scree’s adventures take them next!
Note: There is a glossary in the back, which also includes information about the sea life and other words used throughout the book.
There is slight violence as found in nature, attacks on another species to protect the clan and when a Squid attacks.

Another great Carson Reno story!Carson is now on the other side of the law, or at least that’s the way it looks. It’s a great new story for Carson, and full of unpredictable twists and mysteries. I am a big fan of Darnell and of course, Carson, so I was very excited to read this new story. It’s one of my favorites of the series, but of course, Carson is one of my favorite characters. It’s a hard-hitting, magnificent bout of storytelling. Couldn’t put it down until the end!
